Okay, full disclosure time. I know precisely jack about Dragon Prince. However I know a metric butt ton about Gundam. I assume that this is an alternate UC timeline where the likes of F91, which takes place in UC 0123, never happened. It's the only way in which this makes sense to me with only the opening chapter to go on as there is a canonical presence in the Jupiter Sphere at the time. Still, it would make sense to use the canon MS of the time which are much smaller and lighter than the previous generation to where they can run circles around even seriously upgraded Jegans. Said trend toward the smaller MS started around UC 0110 so it is unquestionably the wave of the future for mobile suits.
