Oh my goodness, this is so intense, so beautiful, and so perfect to both Valjean and Javert. Really wonderful work, especially with Javert's reactions as Valjean is dying.

I would love to see one of the musicals... The only production of the book I've ever seen is the 1998 film, and Javert will eternally be Geoffrey Rush.

I am new to fandom despite loving les miz for decades. It is somehow fitting that I have just read this. First off I love the premise. This is a unique story. I also enjoyed the blending of the book and musical versions. Thank you!

Too easy. The book's not called The MISERABLES for nothing - they got to suffer a bit before that final absolution. And what IS the experience of slugging through filth-infested sewers, if not suffering?

Bring it on. Valjean can take it. And so can Javert (by taking the short cut and winding up in the same place as Valjean.)

I absolutely love how this stuck true to the characters and somehow still achieved that nice fuzzy, guilty-pleasure feeling. But it was realistic, and that's what makes it impressive and nice to read. It was very well-written, and very melancholy, and very lovely.

And I love the anti-climactic last line about the blood.

I liked this. It's sad, and a nice reversal of the true ending. I like that you portray the fact that there is very clearly a bond between these two, even if it isn't one of love. Well written, realistic, and very in character too. I'll have to check out more of your stuff now.
