Let me preface this by saying I'm reviewing here at chapter 23 only because I've been engrossed and hadn't thought to stop before now. I have greatly enjoyed your story.

Some light criticism simply because it's been eating at me: the betrayal scene that started this story is just... unbelievable. I can believe Sakura doing something stupid for Sasuke. I can believe even her leaving him to die. But I can't see Naruto being so emotionally and spiritually crushed by a split second decision like that. It's really a minor criticism overall, because it's easy enough to just picture a more 'worthy' betrayal scene in my head to justify the behavior. I just had to spill this out. I hope to not spoil your mood, it by no means makes the story bad.

I like your characterization of Sasuke. Really all the characters are done well but Sasuke is hard to get right, especially Naruto and Sasuke friendship, and you absolutely nail it. Love that, very rare in fanfiction (very rare in the source material!).

I like your choice of overriding plot beyond the emotional development. I actually *want* to know what Hakan has planned here, where usually fanon villains can be pretty meh.

Anyway I wanted to get back to reading, just leaving you some feedback. You deserve it, great work you've done here.

First Chapter Got Me Hooked Whaahahah

I was surprised how much I liked this story. It took some surprising turns narratively, the dialogue was on point for the most part (some moments were a little on the nose especially when the other Konoha 11 were gossiping about Naruto and Sakura’s relationship), and the villain came off as not only competent in a post-series world but was proving capable of out maneuvering the heroes. That is rare in Fanfiction, you hardly see the villain pull a fast one so unexpectedly on the hero. I was on board.

And then the villain became Heath Ledger’s Joker. Why would you rip off one of the most notorious villains in modern cinema? Everyone reading will notice. They might not know exactly where it’s from right away, but they’ll recognize that bastardized monologue. Just when I started finding the villain interesting, you cop out and just make him something I’ve seen only not as compelling because it’s a slightly watered down take on an iconic character.

This was a guy who’d outsmarted Konoha. And now Naruto fucking Uzumaki has come to see what’s what, and instead of giving him something as smart as we’d seen from him before you just plop him into the crazy anarchist category. I figured he was an anarchist, but not because he’s Ninja Joker. I figured he hated the ninja system and was hoping to prove how evil their system really is even in times of peace. I was hoping he wanted to show them that they were hypocrites, not bring them down to his level. I figured he was obsessed with Naruto because he was the poster boy of ninja philosophy and propaganda, not because he was the linchpin to peace.

I really liked most of this story, I honestly did. But that villain, man, he really kinda sucked the air out of the story. I’m definitely gonna check out your other stuff though, if you’ve got anything.

I'm a great fan of sasusaku, but i just couldn't stand Naruto and sakura like this1 I can't imagine it god so much angst.
