This was a good chapter. Kinda rushed compared to earlier chapters, though, same with the previous chapter.

Why does every writer have Grimm eating people? I mean, the teensiest bit of looking into the show or a brief jaunt to a wiki about RWBY shows that Grimm don't eat. Period. They don't eat, drink, sleep, reproduce, or whatever. They just kill people and break stuff. Which is part of their creep factor.

Good story so far. I like Velvet.

"in the shadow of her own team"...uhhh, no, no she isn't. Velvet is treated as a sort of secret weapon of Team CFVY. She isn't even allowed to use her weapon without her Team Leader's permission if I remember correctly. Because Velvet is overpowered. Like when CFVY was having trouble with a group of paladins, so Coco ordered Velvet to wipe them out. She did it quickly and easily.

Pretty nice mix of introspection and fightning, also Coco seems pretty in canon. Just once you written bad Jaune's name at the beginning.
