Okay, your Rayla is a coward. There's no incentive in continuing to read this.

God this story hit me right in the feelings; it gave me some very strong 'Another Auld Lang Syne' (by Dan Fogleberg) vibes, especially for the first part: Dancing around eachother, trying to find something that once was there but which may have gone now. I suppose the story speaks to that part in all of us that at some point had to make a choice of the heart, and that can't help but wonder what would have happened if we had chosen differently. What if I'd told her how I felt? What if I'd taken the chance and moved with him? What If's that will drive you crazy with visions and dreams of what could have been - which you've captures very well.
But your work also engages with that other, ajacent, part of out psyche: the guilt of having let former friends and comrades slip away from our lives. It is as much an inevitability as choices in love, and they will haunt you pehaps even more, because they are not a definite choice. Just a connection that slowly tapers off over time, to the point that people you five years ago could not imagine not spending time with, are now distant memories. Memories which invoke a bittersweet sense of guilt of losing touch even if you never meant to.
Overall, great work, Loved it.

This was a very enjoyable story. You have a wonderful talent for description that really makes it easy to understand a character's feelings. An all around good read.
