This is wonderful and so in-character, especially that last little part of this chapter - that was so clever, so sweet and so Astrid, love it! I've come across plenty of stories where she's either over-expressive and emotional or at the opposite end of the spectrum. Your characterization of her is spot on. And I've very much enjoyed your take on the Hiccup/Astrid dynamic as well as the other characters. Looking forward to more - when you get round to updating. All the best :D

Another fine chapter-the kiss at the end was an especially nice touch as well as a very clever way for Astrid to gauge Hiccup's "feelings" for her. This does raise a question though. Astrid kissed Hiccup twice in the first movie and at least twice more before the second movie. Just wondered if you were going to deal with any of these as the plot develops. Regardless of whether that occurs or not, this is quickly turning into one of my favorite reads. Oh, and good luck with the studying.

Your "fleshing out" of the aforementioned crush is one of the things that is making this the enjoyable read that it is. I have always found this stage of Astrid and Hiccup's relationship to be fertile ground for further exploration and as for this particular story-case in point.

Many things to consider, for the two of them...

Much of the heart, for Astrid-for sure, and of the mind and expectations for Hiccup-absolutely, as the ticking of the clock that accompanies growing up in a Viking Village gets louder for those coming of age.

While Astrid is coming to grips of her feelings for Hiccup and what risk she'd put on their friendship, Hiccup is getting the weight of Stoick's never ending expectations that Hiccup doesn't realize have to be accommodated the way Stoick dictates them to be.

A good little talk, a bit of a hint to someone as oblivious as they come and the next day should be chaotic. And that doesn't include psyching out Snotlout in the Twins drinking game they have planned for him.

Or it will dawn upon her just like that Gronkle puberty came disguised as, hit her this week.

She's got it bad for Hiccup, and she's going to have to put the pieces of the puzzle of the question she has about Hiccup liking her before that is solved.

Yeah, Ruffnut's a pretty good wing-woman...for keeping Astrid on her toes about her feelings for Hiccup and telling her how to deal with the fan-girls hanging around the Forge...and chasing after her 'Man'...LOL!

Just so you know, the writers confirmed Astrid had romantic or crush feelings for Hiccup before the 1st film, they only started after he showed the resolve and maturity to defend toothless back in the cove.
