like how lexi's arriving (please save her), katherine is coming therefore caroline turns into a vamp , bonnie's a witch, elijah's coming, klaus is coming to sacrifice her in a ritual, ripper stefan, etc etc
but i like it, it's a good start ( you may want to mention that some charecters are ooc like matt, like i hate him but he'd never do that) and im excited for the plot to begin!

I have high expectations for this story, I hope it doesn't become a cliché that simply follows the canon if it changes, and with a weak protagonist both emotionally and physically

suggestion make your change in the universe, put other creatures in the universe too

and try to put aspects of other series, mixing them, like teen wolf, you could give an alpha version to wolves and vampires, and the alpha version of vampires would be like alaric, with the weakness of tearing out the heart and the head

and the wolves transform into the form of Peter alpha from teen wolf, that's just my suggestion, but it would be really cool if that happens imagine the face of the originals when they realize that they are not the strongest vampires

Canon!Elena did, he's a sad 14/15 year old boy who's lost his parents and technically his sister.

that's not to say SI!Elena hasn't lost just as much but at least she knows her family ain't dead, facts are facts.

I think you'll need to search around the town eventually to know the lay of the land since you didn't go the amnesia route you have to know where the highschool is and the Gilbert's home.
