This is ace so far. Having a sneaky look at the next chapter, I never would have dreamed of this as a premise but I am very excited to continue. I am looking forward to what Darcy learns from his new society, and your characterisation is so well done; I really got the impression that Darcy wanted to run to the top of some stairs and scream for a while.
