Clodia chapter 6 . 3/7/2009 This is all beautiful. Very elegant writing and lovely allusiveness all through. I do like this sailing over sunken Beleriand especially. Thank you! |
Ellfine chapter 5 . 10/17/2006 I had never considered that Earendil might have witnessed the fall of Numenor and what a horrible pain that would have been for him. I love the hope and resolve of the last line. Wonderful! |
Ellfine chapter 2 . 10/17/2006 I can't even begin to put into words how exquisitely, heart-rendingly beautiful Reutrn to Tirion is. "Well done" seems so inadequate.. |
Danny Barefoot chapter 1 . 1/2/2005 Astonishingly economic with words, effective and pointed, emotional. Very good. |
Rose Red2 chapter 4 . 10/6/2004 Oh! Nellas/Turin is one of my favourite little nuggets in the Unfinished Tales. :) Lovely short piece, especially this line: "He did not know this, for it was not true. But maybe he could make it true, if he but put it in the poem." Very nice. :) |
Werecat99 chapter 2 . 3/3/2004 I have no words... In this you have captured so many emotions and scenes that I'm unable to give you a coherent review. This is one of the few poems that match the beauty of Tolkien's worlds. Brilliant. Simply brilliant. |
Werecat99 chapter 1 . 1/27/2004 Sad, and unbelievably beautiful. Good work. |
Nemis chapter 2 . 9/5/2003 There is so much great stuff in here to explore I'm sort of hesitant to even try to say anything about it after the first (well, two by now) reading(s). At moments there is harmony, only to be followed by chaos and immense sadness, blending into each other seemlessly. The contrasts you've worked in are truly amazing. As you introduce one image it's shortly followed by the next, making it all a kind of journey in which there isn't really black or white, no accusations but still so much regret. A marvellous example of how strong poetry can be. (and there I go being all vague again ;)) |
Kira chapter 1 . 4/21/2003 Hi! Very good, beautiful, wonderful, lovely, nice, sad. These are the adjectives which came to my mind, after first reading. After the second: Por Elrond. You suffered soo much... :( I have to ask you something. Can I translate your poem to Hungarian, please? Pretty please? Ain't a poet or a writer (just wannabe:), but your poem is too good, and there are people who are unable to understand english. Oh nevermind.. I will be unable to translate it.. Your poem is too good for me. It's beyond my skills. :( |
Losseniaiel chapter 1 . 4/19/2003 *dies quietly of amazement* Usually I don't like fan written poetry, but this was beautiful and so desperately sad. |
Nilmandra chapter 1 . 4/19/2003 alena - this is beautiful! Elrond suffered so much loss - loss to the sea, loss to the sky, temporary loss to the west; and loss beyond Arda (for both his evenstar and his brother). Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! |
LaJiggles chapter 1 . 4/19/2003 Oh my... that was so sad. *sniffles* Poor Elrond suffers so much and this captures it beautifully. I loveses it! |
finch chapter 1 . 4/19/2003 Excellent poem, especially the last verses. Sums up the tragedy of Elrond's life very well. |
arabella thorne chapter 1 . 4/18/2003 Poetry is such a personal expression... and this was just lovely alena..simple beautiful drawn and balanced...very smoothly done reads aloud so very very well.. "loss was a white feather" oh thats a beautiful original line but I am not sure why you called it Dolphins of Gondolin? |
Little she-bear chapter 1 . 4/18/2003 *gasps* That was beautiful. Seriously, I am in awe, this poem is so moving. You should *not* feel guilty for plugging this. On the contrary, be proud! Wow. |
