Guest chapter 13 . 6/10 Very sweet. |
Guest chapter 9 . 6/9 Perfect reunion. I can't stop smiling. |
Guest chapter 8 . 6/9 When they say The Five Kingdoms, they meant the original five from the time of Brutus. It had become a common figure of speech. .. ie The worse servant in the Five Kingdoms. |
Guest chapter 3 . 6/8 Aww. Uncle Merlin. |
doenya chapter 15 . 4/10/2019 Lovely story! |
mizzymel chapter 7 . 4/8/2019 Just as a matter of curiosity, about how old is Amhar here? In my mind he's about 13ish? Old enough to have a sword and some skill, but still a child. Curious to know if I'm close? (yes, I've read this again. Twice in a week. I love it that much) |
mizzymel chapter 15 . 4/7/2019 Of all the Arthur returns fics, this one is far and away my favorite. I wasn't sure how I felt about it coming from Arthur's son's perspective until I read it. I don't want this universe to end. Ever. Not to prompt you into different stories, but man, would love to have one from Arthur's perspective being in Limbo, and Merlin's watching Amhar grow up... Oh and what happens next, surely there are more adventures. Did I mention I never want this universe to end? LOL Well Done. |
wryter501 chapter 15 . 2/4/2019 i usually don't read stories like this, merlin-after-arthur's-death, but i liked this one! i like merlin having purpose to live on with, and i love him in a father's role - and i love seeing him from a child's perspective, not really understanding his body language the way the reader does... i also like the idea that merlin treats uther's memory gently, for the man's grandson. also, thank you for addressing gwen's fears that the reality of arthur returned wouldn't live up to her memories, relived and recounted so many times. and merlin's hesitation, but gwen's point is one that is very rare in fanfiction, when arthur does actually return. so often i read it that arthur's back, let's have a party yay everything is great/perfect... which isn't really realistic. lovely section, gwaine's return! you're right about including him in a group dynamic, he is very good for lightening the mood! arthur's return, though. difficult, but i think you juggled it appropriately. gwen, merlin, and amhar each get their own personal, private moment, and you expect there will be more and longer such moments between each of them... and then when there /are/, you've managed the balance between trivializing the issues and drowning in angst - it's very well done. glimpses of the depth of emotion without having to wallow. :) and i love how the interactions between arthur and amhar seem to indicate that he's deliberately being a better father than his own - being demonstrative of affection, being affirming with his words, etc. planning for the battle with the saxons. of course there had to be a threat for arthur to return to face, but it also gives them purpose and focus, more than just, sitting around discussing the old times, or building relationships. which i totally approve of - the purpose and focus, i mean. it makes you feel like there would be no awkwardness between gwen who was queen longer than arthur was king, and him taking the leadership role again, or arthur being the primary father figure for amhar, or merlin being gwen's closest confidante. they're all too busy for that, so it works smoothly. ps, i thought the battle scene was very well done. of course it's different from the pov of someone involved, but there was a certain element of sharp uncertainty when we were experiencing it from someone who couldn't see individuals, and didn't know whether any had fallen or been injured, etc. also, i approve of freya's return. i think if arthur gets his family, merlin should, too. it's a good conclusion to the possibility of merlin being subtly shuffled to the side from the place he took in arthur's family - and i probably approve of freya over any oc you'd choose to introduce... i like how, in the end, camelot seems more a home to amhar than ever b/c he's got so much family - and b/c it seems much more a home to merlin. that last campfire scene, with merlin storytelling, i imagine it was quite a different atmosphere, with the guys being able to tease each other and make light of danger and so on... and none of it about anyone who was absent b/c of death. very satisfactory! it was a beautiful ending, with amhar holding his baby sister and reflecting on all they would share, and all that she would miss - and that it's okay in the end. thanks for writing this! |
magensby chapter 1 . 12/27/2018 Nice start and yes I want to hear a story about Arthur too. I like happy endings. |
Anorptron chapter 15 . 9/27/2018 This was brilliant! I loved every second! |
Just Hedera chapter 15 . 8/28/2018 I kept meaning to write reviews for this with each chapter update but never got the chance to write out a meaningful review. You did such a good job of showing the characters from a young boy's perspective. It takes skill to show character growth through the eyes of different character (especially a younger narrator) and you did an excellent job. I also really liked that the full narrative closure you brought to both your own plot and the series as whole. Also, kudos for writing a 15 chapter story with regular updates. That is quite the accomplishment. (My poor readers have been left hanging on chapter 7 for almost a year.) Overall, very well done story! Looking forward to your future writing endeavors! |
magensby chapter 15 . 8/22/2018 Thnx for the read. We await your return and more stories. |
