Luiz4200 chapter 5 . 5/26/2019 To Coco's credit, Ernesto DID see Hector's family that way. |
Guest chapter 13 . 5/4/2019 This was beautiful and I really like the style you wrote in. The scene at the end with the dog was awesome. A perfect way to finish it out. |
Guest chapter 13 . 4/22/2019 Wow I’m crying. So good but so sad |
Eris chapter 13 . 3/12/2019 Awesome story. So fascinating and sad. Great story. |
AliceCullen3 chapter 13 . 12/30/2018 LOVE IT! |
Paul chapter 2 . 6/27/2018 The Nestor nickname is interesting as is how Hector had to keep lowering amount of food ed be then dropping bombshell he gave it to Ernesto |
Paul chapter 1 . 6/27/2018 Only saw this movie a month ago so startled by the timing of seeing it here, good start to the story, oscar and Felipe seem tougher and Arden than they did in the film. Like Imelda calling Ernesto a shiftless wastrel and thinking Hector would naturally be near de la Cruz |
Guest chapter 13 . 6/23/2018 Beautiful! |
Cat61 chapter 13 . 6/22/2018 Wow. Just...wow. I particularly like how you explained Coco never putting up his picture, it’s well-reasoned! Love it! |
D. M. Robb chapter 13 . 6/22/2018 Wow! This story is amazing. It took a couple of chapters before I figured out the pattern of the broken-off sentences at the beginning and end of each chapter, how they flow into one another, but I find I like it. Very clever! The story itself is very moving and explains a lot of background details that weren’t given in the movie. I figured Imelda and Coco had to recognize Ernesto’s songs, especially “Remember Me,” as having been written by Hector, so I’m glad this was a major plot point here. Same with the iconic guitar. I also appreciate how Imelda didn’t believe Ernesto’s lies concerning Hector but that she’d still have her own doubts. And I like the nod at the end to Dante’s ancestors. Excellent job! :o) |
MeticulousMuse chapter 4 . 6/20/2018 Fern, I've lurked as a fan of of your pen for a while, and I don't compliment the writers I love to read as often as I should. I want you to know that the depth, nuance, and spirit you add to the canons you write about is a treasure. The chapters of this fic are getting cut off at the beginning and end; would you fix the formatting please? I want to hold off and read the rest when they're fixed! |
Eryniel Alasse chapter 1 . 6/20/2018 First of all, how has NOBODY reviewed this yet? Second of all, this. All of this. It's so amazing that I have automatically accepted it as canon. Great characterization in particular. I really loved your Imelda, a strong woman who tries to keep her head up even after her husband (ostensibly) abandoned her. Her struggle with her simultaneous love and hatred of music was wonderfully portrayed, as was her simulataneous longing for and hurt because of Héctor. Nicely done! |
