I loved this, it was amazing. Like, you wrote this so well I don't even know what to say. I loved how sweet it was, and how real you made all your characters seem, especially with how short this story was and how little we canonically know about these characters.
The relationship between Dorea and Marius was honestly just so sweet, and Marius' desperation about wanting magic and to be a Hufflepuff... Just so good. I loved how all the Blacks were basically in denial about Marius being a squib, how they're pretending it's not a thing - plus it was just so lovely to get a pre-him being booted off the family fic and a fic that's from his point of view.

I'm flailing already at see this is Marius. I may favor Charis (I still can't remember why but the love is strong), I do have a serious weak point for Marius. I blame Amber for it, of course.

I adore the mentions of tension between Callidora and Casseiopia. My hc has Callidora going to Casseiopia after Cedrella's disownment because Casseiopia went through it with Marius. So yeah, definitely enjoy seeing a different hc for that. Not that mine hc is gonna change for that, but still nice to see.

Not all Blacks are Slytherins is an interesting take. Was she married into the family? But still cool.

[touch the violin and the smell activates] it took a solid ten seconds and a second read to realize you meant "spell." We can clearly tell my brain is giving up. But on a different note, I like the sound of that spell.

But fuck yeah, I'm here for Dorea&Marius bonding, for them being soft in a family of steel. Though, tbh, I was a little thrown when I read the Dorea was 6 in this. She seemed older. I mean, fair, given we're talking about the Blacks after all.

But the thought of Hufflepuff!Marius gives me life. I kinda now need a fic where Dorea gets a Hufflepuff scarf for him. And I liked his reasoning behind wanting Hufflepuff. It just made my heart hurt more.

This just makes me hurt for Marius. Poor bby, who doesn't know anything but the wizarding world. No, I'm not about to cry over disowned!Marius, damnit. But at least he'll always have Dorea.

This is beautiful and you're beautiful and Marius is beautiful. I just love this and you. So yeah.

Okay, this is heartbreaking and adorable in equal measure.
The beginning was amusing, when Dorea is just like... yeah, she hates her. I love that little snippet into the other members of the family.
I love the sibling dynamic between Dorea and Marius, and that she promises to be there for him no matter what, that's completely adorable. But then there's the other side, and you can genuinely feel Marius' fear that he's not going to have magic and that just breaks my heart for him.
I just want to scoop him up in a hug to be honest.
But this is beautiful as always :D

Yay for writing about a Black wanting to be a 'Puff! There's nothing wrong with wanting to be around with kind and loyal people.

There's nothing wrong with not having a lot of ambition either. Though, I think Marius feels this way because he hasn't had an incident of accidental magic yet. Did you intend for him to be a Squib? It certainly seems like he is, but he's unable to admit or accept it yet, especially since being a Squib would be unacceptable in the Black family.

I loved how supportive Dorea was of Marius and how she promised to always be there for him. Marius's longing to be a 'Puff was conveyed so well... like if he wants it enough, it'll happen.

One little typo notice: smell activates - should that be sound? Overall, I'd be curious to read a follow up describing what happened next. Nice job!

first off - i love how you characterised all of them. (not really sure who callidora is but i mean i read a bunch of sophy's egdarfabians without knowing who egdar is so) i like that their mom is actually nice (or seems nice aha. but also, it's a little jarring that she's mentioned by first name - you go into marius' pov later in the fic and i don't think that he'd call his mom by her first name whoops) and i love the sibilings' interaction!
i think that dorea was a bit too... developed? for a six year old - most six-year-olds i've met don't really get the whole 'empathy' thing (marius, too, but less so)
overall, i do like this, though! i love the family fluff and the touch of angst from marius at the end - it makes what actually happening so much more heartbreaking? i think i'm becoming a little obsessed with marius whoops. i loved this :')
