Great story! Liked the disconnect with all the accents and speed of speech. Arwen is a great mediator. I imagine there would be fear and prejudice for the elves from some in Gondor.

I loved this. You portrayed Legolas' confusion so well and the culture clash came across clearly. I like your Arwen as well - sort of cool and mysterious but kind as well. An very interesting story indeed.

Great fic, I really enjoyed it. All the details and difficulties legolas had in the meeting were interesting such as the understanding the different accents and it being so loud to his elvish hearing when everyone started to argue.

This was a nice story! I love how you write Legolas as being young and uncertain in the world of men, and I enjoy the dynamics between Legolas and Aragorn as they try to work things out. Hope you will write more!

Golly gee, I unfailingly adore your characterizations! I know we are of the same mind of Legolas’ exposure to outside culture for similar canon-based reasons, and I really enjoyed seeing that portrayed here. What I loved most of all, though, was that realization of Aragorn’s in regards to Legolas’ general fluency and comprehension. I know from interacting with non-native English speakers and speaking a second language myself how much one learns to rely on body language, inflection, facial expression, pacing, etc to understand what’s going on if you are flagging that day for whatever reason. Legolas may have gotten so skilled at this in mannish culture that Aragorn does not even notice (besides the fact they generally speak sindarin together), until Legolas is overwhelmed by stimuli and background noise as he was today.

Really lovely touch with Arwen being the emotional interpreter between the two. And so full circle with Legolas realizing he had misread aragorn’s challenges also. This is such an interesting time period and location for fan fiction—such political unrest, post-war and, in many ways, post-civil war, and a wee smidge of colonialism, or at least it probably feels that way to some of gondor’s people (heir to the throne returned, and all that). This piece does a great job giving a “slice of life” view, and really giving the reader an idea of the feel of living in such a tumultuous time. (Reminds me that I need to finish “A Passing Theme,” which has similr immigration and xenophobia themes in later unpublished chapters.)

Very nice! Frustration understandable on both sides and handled really well.

I am very impressed with this. It is so easy to forget that those two had arguments and that in the end Estel probably had it easier than Legolas. I love how well you wrote their misunderstanding yet in the end how they made up and for the better. Great job!
