Okay, I just stumbled across this randomly, but I'm so happy I did. It's one of my biggest pet peeves when people clearly haven't paid any attention to the books or their characters and send me a District One tribute with dark skin. I accept that there are most likely people in District One with dark skin, however it's unlikely that is the tribute that's going into the games. We learn from District Twelve that merchant and lower-class people have two very different, very distinctive looks. We know from an account of Glimmer's appearance that tributes from District One traditionally have blonde hair and green eyes, described by Katniss as emerald. And it's unlikely that anybody from an upper class family would go into the Hunger Games. One of, if not the, main reasons people go into the games is for money. Why else risk your life?

Anyway, I just wanted to say that this is amazing on all accounts, and I love that you've put these ideas on paper and educated people on some of the smaller, less focused on intricacies of Panem. Great job!

How about "The Jerk" for a character archetype? You know, the mean/rude tribute?

I don't mind Reluctant Careers as long as they kill other tributes despite being reluctant, because if that's the case the end result is still the same lol (people die). That being said, I'd still like to see more Careers who are willing killers in SYOTs.

When I first started submitting, I had two archetypes I used. (I'm not even sure if they're considered archetypes, but they were for me). One was the serious, cold survivalist, who usually is an orphan, lives on the streets and has a few naive younger siblings to take care of. Seriously, just about tribute I submitted originally was exactly like that. The other is the smart, calculating one who's either from 3 or 5 and just tricks everyone into killing each other. I also had one who volunteered to save a sick family member. They're all kind of embarrassing.

Hey! I have the writing style of a preteen girl. I would advise you not to shit on it!

I kind of have a soft spot for young killers because as unrealistic as they are, they're somehow more realistic than the sweet and innocent 12 year old who acts literally five. I was a 12 year old nearly two years ago now. You can tell I definitely frolicked in the woods, threw tea parties, and sheltered my animal friends. I'm not saying your characters have to be super realistic or anything because unless you do it a specific way it's very boring, but at least have them act age-appropriate. A witty 12 year old is funnier than a criminally childish one, and often makes me more sympathetic to their death to boot, because witty characters aren't tailormade to die and sweet innocent pure beans are.

I love Smol Beans. While wildly unrealistic tributes (Like Zibs) are cute and fun, I love tributes that you could meet irl. Smol Beans are very realistic that way.
