Reviews for The Petroleum Club
iackrabbit chapter 7 . 3/22/2019
I love two-bit and tim, so this fic is definitely something I've loved reading. Donna's great, too, because a lot of people seem to forget anything beyond a class divide. Tim acknowledging that it's unfair, that Donna being a girl is the shorthand- that was real and it was so well done.
Cherylblossomxo chapter 7 . 8/16/2018
Wow I'm loving this story so much! Please make another chapter soon!
scillio chapter 7 . 8/3/2018
One thing I really like about your Tim is that behind his mask of coolness, he's always doing something. Usually something kind of dumb and totally illegal, but I'm a sucker for a schemer. He's very interesting in his machinations, and the train thing is so original. Man, I REALLY hope Tim attempts to rob a train, because it is going to be dark and hilarious and dangerous and probably go very wrong, and I can't wait.

I hope Donna suddenly develops the ability to kick people in the teeth and then kicks Dwight in the teeth. And Tim too. And every man around who tries to tell her what happened was her fault, or that she's lucky it wasn't worse.
Izout chapter 7 . 7/31/2018
Yay, an update. Can't wait to see how Tim's handles robbing a train.

Another great chapter, excellent job of seamlessly incorporating all of these gender dynamics and class dynamics into the piece.

So glad to see an update from you. :) You do an excellent job of painting a description of a scene, I can envision Buck's perfectly; but it's not overdone either. The mood established at the beginning of the scene, the warped Ella Fitzgerald record played in the background.

I love seeing the 'world' from the perspective of a greaser girl, because they tend to get short shifted. I'm liking how your showing these gender/class dynamics (Tim wants to be the crap out of the guy because he's Soc, not really because of his untoward behavior) through the behaviors of your characters.

Tim, Tim, Tim; your mama know you talk to girls like that? ;) But I'm fascinated in Tim's mix of bravado, protectiveness, and coldness/meanness when it comes to Donna. I LOVE Tim mentioning how he knew something was bothering Donna. I like this insightful side of Tim.

I love these characters you've developed they feel like real people. In this one short chapter there are already so many layers to Donna & Tim.

Fantastic job as always.
7.06andcounting chapter 4 . 10/11/2017
'On any other night, he'd have been just her kind of trouble...' But what a night, and what a very very interesting look at sexual politics in general and Donna's experiences in particular. This is a girl boxed in by her time and her gender and her class, and I am in awe once again of the way you display your characters so clearly.
HappierThanMost chapter 3 . 8/30/2017
"And that has made all the difference" Loving that Tim knew that!
Smart dialogue. Great details. Really enjoying this :)
7.06andcounting chapter 3 . 8/30/2017
""And that has made all the difference," Tim mumbled, and then was amused when Two-Bit didn't get it." It amused me too :) Thoroughly enjoyed the verbal sparring between the guys.

Man, linking the school skirts and the club dresses is effective. Sad too, if not downright poignant.

Slayed by the way you've set these two characters together:
""That's a shitty thing to say. And you got a filthy mouth. And you're a very smart girl."
None of what he said seemed to make a dent."
