| weeathamandjam chapter 11 . 6/1 Every character in your story speaks as if they were reading from a paper. Continuous long sentences without any breaks that you normally find in everyday conversation. There is also very little variation between characters. Adults and children normally speak differently but in this story they appear to be voiced by the same person. Moreover, they all seem to be voiced by the narrator. Their dialogue and the narrator's explanations are very similar. Another issue that hinder enjoyment of the story is that there is a lot of tell but little show. Instead of telling us "A happened then B happened", show those events happening in "real time". Apart from that, I like Jack's character and his obvious affection for Harry. Things have been going a bit too smoothly for him but I guess the real hard part is yet to come. |
