the simplicity of this makes it work. It's great to see something pure and unsullied in the EVA univers.

Pretty cool story. The whole 'complete and total adoration' thing kind of threw me off, but I actually think it fits with Chidori's personality. My girlfriend is actually a lot like her, just older and a lot hotter. But now I'm just rambling, great story. Your work is truly remarkable.

I like this story and think you should keep going with it.

I'm glad to have read this story knowing there are future installments to come - "Koibito" is a story of commencements, and there is a lot more to be said.

Throughout the story, Chidori is certainly secure in her emotions, but we leave Shinji as a nervous wreck, still uncomfortable with people and affection, and unable to face the girl to whom he has committed himself. He's sweated out this awkward crush without too much effort or thought, but while he hasn't run away, he's about as responsive as the First Child, and just going with the flow. As your reviewer Wordmage suggests, there's an undercurrent of tragedy and upcoming hurt for this couple, when the boy is still frightened and libel to push away as intimacy grows.

It was a pleasure to hear Asuka's inner thoughts for a change, and to get some perspective on the typically antagonistic role she assumes in your romances. However, her thoughts and machinations are left half-finished, and her great inspiration left unfulfilled. And to complicate matters, Rei gets a cameo moment that proposes Shinji's love triangle might soon morph into a sort of quadrilateral! So many thoughts and feelings within this opening act demand continuation.

One reviewer proposed "Saikano" as an influence, although I found the premise borrowed more from the EVA game "Girlfriend of Steel", what with the deep suspicion surrounding this very forward love interest. Deep down, "Koibito" your archetypal shoujo-romance, with an girl who builds her entire character around love, a nervous recipient of those affections, and adorable awkwardness aplenty. It was a familiar story without any real surprises, but as a sweet romance made to stir up all sorts of warm and adorable feelings, “Koibito” knows its role and succeeds above and beyond.

wow again another great story. im slowly reading each of your stories from your first to the last. im very inpressed by your writing style. i just wish i could write like you

Hm...this "Chidori" is meant to be an entirely original charatcer, correct? I was starting to see resemblences witht he girl from Saikano (Can't remember her name), and Chidori's name, I would venture to say, is stemmed from FMP, or at least, an odd coincidence. Almost as if Chidori Kaname and Sagara Sousuke had a child...

I see where you're coming from, with her focal point being unconditional adoration, but as a character, I'm afraid I just coulnd't warm up to her. And what's with all of Shinji's friends being suspicious to the point where they actually adise him to break it off? I understand the oddity of kids in different classes and age groups dating, but in Shinji's case, I would have thought they'd be a litte...oh, I don't know, happy for him. Or maybe it's just not developed enough.

A thoughtful read, but my preference still falls among your other fics.

I like it it was Nice... and i hope you did or will do that sequel you mentioned cause this kinda ended abruptly and reading more of it would be nice for at least some closure.

Nice sweet piece; you're right, Chidori-kun was a bit 1/2 dimensional for a bit, then suddenly we see her thoughts and emotions - which was really nice.

Best part I think for me was Chidori putting First Child in her place ... too bad it didn't include a 2x4 to the face ... that kid always annoyed me. ;)
