This was great! Especially Vader's POV; it's hard to write him accurately but you nailed it!

This comic was one of my favorites. I love the idea that Vader knew before hand: it makes the movies so much more intense. His seemingly unconcerned dialogue with the emperor in Empire Strikes Back becomes so powerful and almost fearful. That dialogue does actually hint at the fact that he knew long before as well as he was trying to protect Luke. The entire conversation is the emperor saying "kill him" and Vader saying "but maybe I don't have to" and it just goes back and forth. I listen to the music of that scene all the time and it gives me chills.
Just like that scene, this story gives me chills and in the best way possible. How Vader just refuses to let him go is such a interesting, but believable sight to imagine. I adore Vader-Luke fluff because we do see this sort of physical tenderness throughout the entire series so it's very believable for a father and son to behave like this in this universe.
Not to mention (being a phantom of the opera fan) I adore images of towering, large, frightening black clad, mask wearing villain(ish) characters holding small, frail, young and unconscious characters dressed in white and described as light. It's an old trope, but there's a reason it's lasted the test of time.
Your short story perfectly captures the feeling of Star Wars as well romantitizing it by displaying Vader and Luke in a sort of "death and the maidan" type of story. It's so simple but so clever and well executed, just like the franchise it came from.

This was absolutely fantastic. I always love looking at possible AUs. Vader came so close to capturing Luke so many times. It must have been the will of the Force that Luke managed to evade his father so well. That, or just dumb luck.

AMAZING! I can't believe I never thought to read this. You are one of the Best Star Wars fanfic Authors. This was perfect from both Point of Views. I hope you write more Vader and Luke Stories like this.
And I hope that pretty soon you'll update your BIG fanfic "Allegiance". In the past five months I have read it almost every day and almost know it off by heart. Now I am more curious and excited than ever to know how the story will continue. I'm sure in time you'll let us all know.

Awwwh. Please continue? One of the itches I had when reading Sparklight's pieces was the unrealised potentials the snippets had for spectacular stories. They were just a bunch of beginnings; awesome beginnings, but just those, *beginnings*. If you could expand this, I would be very, very happy and grateful. Maybe a longer quaranteen in the Devastator, less exposure to the Imps at first, unlike in Allegiance, since Vader went through the deliberate, sneaky way here, and this time Avra could play a role in things? And maybe, in here, you could have the family as whole as it could be much faster than in Allegiance? It could be short, if you don't have lots of ideas; but I've read short SW fics that employed such a tactic and did it marvellously... Please?

Awesome! I did wonder why Vader would have allowed Luke to go free when all Vader ever wanted to do was capture Luke.

I thought I had reviewed this already. I love everything about this two-shot. Luke's terror at falling in the Empire's hands and the way he resists until the very end, Vader's satisfaction at finally having his son, the beginnings of something like tenderness that Luke keeps misunderstanding, because how could he know there's so much more at play here than capture of a famed Rebel... And then his reaction as Vader tells him was amazing. So was Vader touching his face in wonder. The juxtaposition of their emotions is incredibly powerful, both points of view complete each other perfectly, and I adore the imagery that you manage to create with such a simple scene.

I love this story, and thank you for giving us both perspectives! I love hearing both characters' pov's. Very sweet bonding fluff!
