Reviews for Maker Harry
mostcommonwombat chapter 7 . 4/19/2019
A shame this story seems to have been discontinued as it truly mixes legitimate warmth along with the realities of HP's life at Durzkaban. The walking advertisements for birth control remain as they are in canon yet he has been able to find those who are truly supportive and bring worth to his life. It would appear his reply to the Hogwarts letter has lit a fire underneath the tails of both McG & Flitwick and one hope they can prove a bulwark against he who is either totally immersed in senile delusions OR is an utterly deceitful sociopath.

Wow! This is brilliant! I love the idea that his primary teachers noticed Harry's poor home life and decided to help him. Honestly, I never understood how the teachers could miss the fact that Harry was the good, polite child and Dudley the bully. Thank you for this heartwarming story. I hope to see more soon!
Mytryk chapter 1 . 7/29/2018
I love this story and, even through incomplete, I have read it a number of times. I do hope you continue the story soon. Would love to see Maker Harry at Hogwarts.

Beginning to look abandoned!
LoveSpock chapter 7 . 2/28/2018
Harry is definitely an artist. I'm sure he'll be creative at his new school.

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASE!
can we have a new chapter?
mackiechandler chapter 7 . 2/6/2018
Oh this is good. I like this story, both for what Harry is going and his mentors.
Katzztar again chapter 7 . 1/24/2018
Been rereading this and caught a few things I didn't previously. I had thought Flitwick arrived on same day they were planning on taking Harry to the living museum of cultural arts, but it seems he arrived 1-2 days before that.

Here gruff Franks reminds me so much of gruffy Bobby Singer from Supernatural lol.
The Wandmaker chapter 7 . 1/19/2018
Love this so much!

Ah Nice scene between Flitwick & Franks.

Hmmmm, for the sake of this story I'm going to assume that the Potters were older than canon, around 23-25 at least. Why simply because if they were the canon age of 21, there would be no way either could be an auror, much less a decorated one. Both had their birthday during the year, Lily in Dec & James in March. This would mean they would have been 18 at graduation. We learned from Tonks that Auror training is 3 years long. So if they were Aurors, they would have just finished training in summer of 81. Few scant months isn't enough time to be called decorated Aurors. But wait... in canon Harry was born when they were 20 and they were in hiding so that would have interfered with the 3 yr training period.
Frankly thinking they were older doesn't bother me as much as the actors never looked to be 21 yr olds. ...they looked like James & Lily died when they were 30 something!

Yes! Now there's a nice b-day present, getting an early introduction to blacksmithing & glassblowing. Sure Harry's not likely going to be doing them anytime soon, but he's being introduced to them and learning some basics, like making some easy nails. ...or at least that was the plan of the day.
Hmmm
Wonder how they are going to co-ordinate this... Sounds like they were planning to go to the living museum on his b-day, but Flitwick arrived. Usually in stories when Hogwarts professor arrives to tell kids about magic, they take them to Diagon Alley the same day.
Which always made me wonder WTF since some families won't allow their kid go alone with a stranger the first they meet, they would want to go with them but if the professor was an unexpected visitor, the parent may have not have time aka work. I can see canon McGonagall subtly use calming & compulsion charms on parents. But I don't see this McG doing that, nor Flitwick. Esp. after they learned how these people helped Harry survive all these years.

I wonder if Flitwick would arrange to visit the Alley another day and today travel with them to visit the museum and to see how Harry acts and his skills. As head of the house known for intelligence, I can see him doing that. Speaking of which, I used to be convinced that this Maker Harry would be a shoo-in for Hufflepuff with his work ethics and this version has people to be loyal to. He certainly isn't Gryffindor in this story. Sure he's courageous, but its not the primary personality trait.
But I just realized he could also fit in Ravenclaw as well with his desire to learn. I can see Flitwick using the day at the museum to observe the skills Harry has and then tell Harry if there are spells to help in that regard.
Like those auto-knitting needles we see Molly has, you know where they seem to knit by themselves while freeing up the hands to do another task. But by Hermione's atrocious knitting skills in bk 4, I am assuming the spell that does that relies on the person's knowledge of knitting. In other words, I think they have to know how to knit before they can use the spell. I suppose one can say they must learn the skill before learning the spell to cheat. lol

The books are so focused on the 'flashy' or classroom spells we don't learn about charms used in housework or trades, beyond the obvious ones like scourify, repairo and levitation charms. There are bound to be charms used during craftworks, not just spells to be used after on the finished project. I can see Flitwick traveling with them and telling Harry about how semi-sticking charm could used while building things, or about how to make things (esp. wood) impervious to water. (well either later after they can't be heard by others or after he's applied a charm so other muggles can't hear).
I can see Flitwick using that opportunity to try to get Harry in a Ravenclaw's mindset lol

Damn it, I am completely invested in this story! I will very eagerly be waiting for the next upload.

thanks for the update
teedub chapter 7 . 1/18/2018
Though I still think Albus was wrong in how he handled Harry's placement, it's sort of hard to stay that level of mad after Filius's explanation.
sachaelle chapter 7 . 1/18/2018
This is of the best explanation that I read about why they stay away. It might be because it was made by an articulate learned man!
