Very cool! I love the idea that Obi Wan has left after what Qui Gon did, and I would love to know what happened.

I feel like I've said this before, but I absolutely love getting announcements that you've posted new stories. You were one of my favorite authors when I was first getting started in fandom and fanfiction, and even though I'm not as involved anymore, I'll always come back for your writing.

Anyway, I really enjoyed what you have so far. The tension between the past and the present palpably comes through. The inclusion of small details makes the story seem so real, especially the reminders of Anakin's past as a slave - the trauma he experienced, and how that has shaped his personality, can so often be overlooked in stories. And your characterization of Qui-Gon is no less impeccable than I'm used to from your writing.

As always, I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes.

I like this. I have to admit that I have absolutely no clue yet in which direction you are heading with the plot but you got me hooked. Wondering what happened to Obi-Wan. :D
What I really like is that you wrote one of those 'what ifs' where Qui Gon chose Anakin over Obi-Wan however you kept it realistic and in character. Most of those stories only end in character bashing, be it against Anakin or Qui Gon or both.
Can't wait how the story will continue and how the plot will develop.
