I don't know if you're still around to read this. I know you've probably moved on, as a number of people I know have. But I digress. This was sitting in my inbox for the longest time, and now, I'm finally going to leave an update.

I really like what you've done with Camilla here. I admit when I first met her in the game, I was a bit thrown back, not necessarily by her looks, fan service they were, but just how she acted around Corrin. I mean, I was just thinking, she's getting a little too...attached, I guess is the word I'm looking for, around someone who's supposed to be her brother. I mean, yeah, I knew the truth, but still. Anyway, I like how you show her as you described her, as a truly caring figure to her siblings. I can imagine that growing up with Garon for their father, it would probably bring out Camilla's more maternal instincts to watch over her family. I think you gave us a wonderfully written look into a character that most just drool over.

I agree that Camilla is a really awesome character, but I do think that, even if the fanservice might have been a little overdone, it contributes to her character. As she does in your fic, she's aware of her femininity but uses it to help out her family and kingdom. It's a shame that the fandom seems to mostly focus on her flirtatious, fanservice-y side and not on the motherly/sisterly/princessly side, but I feel that the game itself handles it reasonably well. Anyway, back to your story, this was really awesome, especially because of your portrayal of Camilla. She's the one who really keeps the family together, caring for her younger siblings while looking out for her older one when he feels too much pressure. In particular, you're really good about describing for the reader the details that Camilla pays most attention to. And of course there's Xander, too. You really capture his sense of duty and that sort of regal mask of command that he has to keep up (and the somewhat sensitive side he has to keep hidden under the mask). The part where he forces Camilla to drink the tea first (to check for poison, I assume) was really an interesting play on these two sides of himhe's not even allowed to trust his own siblingsthat I wouldn't have thought of. Overall, I really enjoyed this fic, and I look forward to anything else you may write! (Also, Goopface McBlorp is an awesome name to call it.)

Despite all the complaints about Conquest's plot, the Nohr siblings are definitely more interesting.

Oh, this is just too beautiful. I've always loved Camilla (partly because her Japanese voice actress is my favourite voice actress, but anyway, I digressed there) and I'm with you: beneath the fanservice and whatnots, she's such a wonderful character. At the same time, I do love Xander too, and I've always felt that, yes, he is almost always too hard on himself. It's both heartbreaking and heart-warming to see them interact, and you captured their characters so beautifully here. Thank you for sharing this with the rest of us and I'm looking forward to more Fates stories from you :)
