I sort of read this and thought, 'Huh, that sounded vaguely familiar...' before I checked the author's name and was like, 'Oh, you again.'
Like your other oneshot, very well written, and I will be thinking of this for a long time.

This is a sad, but very nice interpretation of the prompt! I really liked this story, and it was a nice touch putting in the bit about the greenies coming to see him to be disillusioned.

Seriously. It's amazing, and always getting better and better and this? This story is gold. Dark and really really really heart-wrenching, but still, gold.

Uhm, funny? Maybe with a strange sense of humour, if you read it from the top to the bottom. But I think, I understand what you mean. The beginning could be the one of a funny story but some things don't want to work out the way you want them.
Well, so it is more serious, I think. A view in the future that opens a whole other possibility with many new questions. I really hope that Alex gets somehow his happy ending. He definitely deserves it. Maybe you want to write another story about how he was saved?
Anyway, I think you must be very good to write such a story. Well done The topic is very difficult.
But I didn't get his deal with the devil. Maybe it is because I haven't read the both inspiration books that you mentioned at the beginning.

Damn it's been a while since I read an angsty Alex fic, and reading yours reminded me of how good they are. So I'm going to go read some more after telling you that this one is pretty good and that I hope you write more :)
