This is really beautiful. You mastered it by doing it short - only the essential. I read the book last week and I was wondering if there was fanfiction for it. This is exactly what I dreamed of. Thank you !

I saw the film when it came out, but it took until last night that I read the book. I just love the characters of Ma(Joy) and Jack and the relationship between the two. It's the strongest relationship I have ever read about mothers and sons.
I just know from one reading of this fic that you nailed their personalities and their relationship perfectly. Given that he grew up with only Ma for five years in a tiny room you just know he wouldn't have the teenage drama with Ma. He loves her too much to try and upset her. It's my favourite mother-son relationship of all time.
I wish you had him know Ma for longer than 54 years though. My Ma just turned 70 and my 89 year old grandma is still alive and well.

Pretty much everyday I look for the last two years for more Room fanfics, I remember when there was none. I have been hoping the film would bring a bit of a larger following so I can read more. I actually squeaked when I saw your fic and was almost tearing up by the end. I never have tried to see Jack past 10, it gets really sad in my head for some reason but this felt really honest and believable. I wish this one shot could get more attention, sadly the other two author's declined my requests for more Room fan fiction due to attention. I pray you write more! I have always wanted more stuff from Ma's perspective whilst in Room. Certain scenes in the book and new ones! I wish the author would do that or just someone! I will religiously read your fanfics if you continue with this fandom and I will link the stories everywhere I can. Thanks for the 3rd and most unique Room fanfic yet. Don't let be your last! I think you could nail Joys mindset whilst in Room, you capture the love between the two incredibly well! The movie helped me understand Ma's actions post room a bit better, as a lot of the time reading this book I just want to know what's going through her mind. I also have discovered some really good books that deal mother/son, abuse and love triumphant against all the darkness in the moms life.
