Reviews for Tales of the League
Justonemorenerd chapter 13 . 1/4/2018
Great stories! I love the lore, and this is a really fun way of looking at it. More chapters would be appreciated!
Creaturemaster chapter 12 . 3/29/2017
I can't help but think I somehow influenced this chapter :)

That being said, I find it hilarious that the champions of the Institute all have to share some manner of babysitting duties with Annie, which should turn out to be quite interesting, especially when one takes into account her best friend/pet/stuffed toy.

Can't wait for more!

No matter how many times I read tales of the Virtuoso's masterpieces, I never get tired of hearing them. You did a fantastic job of capturing Jhin's personality and interpretation of the world beautifully and his performance even more so; I have to agree, blood really should come in more colors.

A suggestion for a future chapter, albeit a more light-hearted and humorous one. Basically, it's Annie's birthday and she's ha big a party at the Institute, inviting all her "friends". Of course, a vast majority of the champions "invited" are only coming so they don't face the wrath of a pyromaniac toddler and her fiery death bear of doom, which creates some interesting and rather situations regarding those champions - such as, say, Graves, Vi, Katarina, Tryndamere, Olaf, Sejuani, the. champions who wouldn't dare think of putting on a party hat to save their life - who would rather be doing anything else. Champions such as Braum, Janna, Amumu, Lulu, Nautilus, or Bami would be more willing to play, regardless of whether or not they're actually afraid of Annie.

If the birthday party idea doesn't work out, the same plot could be applied to a tea party. Basically, it's meant to make super serious and angsty champions s little more light-hearted by being forced to do one if the most humiliating things: attending a little girl's party against your will and pretending to enjoy yourself.

Absolutely love the way you've written Jhin. It just works so perfectly for him in every way. Would love to see more.
Creaturemaster chapter 10 . 2/3/2017
That's the thing about time travel: you pretty much write almost anything and it will make sense in some regard (I say almost because there truly are some things you can't write about the subject that will be true).

That being said, it's nice to have another installment, even if it is about a subject that few people are able to fully comprehend; not saying I'm among them, but I amazingly understood a fair amount of what you were trying to get across. Any writer that can do that, I fully commend for their efforts, which includes you.

This make e wonder how Zileanis able to understand the whole concept of time so easily, but I suppose when you live forever and nothing else to do you tend to pick up a thing or two while waiting for both finity and infinity at the same time.
Creaturemaster chapter 9 . 10/17/2016
It was admittedly a little difficult to figure out who was who on the Rift from Gnar's point of view, but it was nonetheless enjoyable and entertaining. I think I managed to figure a good majority of who's who:

Big-Generous-Hairless - Braum
Hunts-With-Talons - Anivia
Cat-Lady - Nidalee
Giggles-Glowing-Stick-Stopper - Lux
Bear-Bird-Beast-Man - Udyr
Frowning-Eagle-Eye - Caitlyn or Ashe

Still can't figure out who Complains-Without-End is supposed to be, but this was interesting and a fun read nonetheless. I hope there's more!

That was just stinking adorable. I actually snorted out loud when it was revealed to be a poster. Wonderful little story.

Yay! A League fic! Garen and Katarina is one of my favourite Lol ships so it's nice to see it implied here. :P

That aside, I think you got down Katarina and TF's characterisations pretty well. You conveyed their personal tics and little actions which all serve to lend to the immersion in their character. In terms of grammar, sentence construction was great and your pool of vocabulary is deep which are great things to have. I didn't notice any glaring spelling or punctuation errors, so you're good on those.

The biggest thing that irked me was that throughout the entire story nothing happened. Sure, there was the epic battle between Kat and TF but as far as the reader is concerned, it's just another everyday match between two champions. There is no indication as to the plot of the story and and almost everything but the final few paragraphs is endless action from both characters and it can be very tiring for the reader since there's nothing to space it out except for lines of telling/exposition/explanation which actually makes it even worse.

Left with a) no clue as to the plot, b) no dialogue or interaction between characters other than pure action, and c) anything that isn't a character action is a sentence explaining something blatantly to the reader; the fic gets boring after the first few paragraphs. I started skimming after TF took his first minion kill because everything so far didn't seem to lend anything to the story and was just going into unnecessary detail.

Champions can speak to each other while on the rift, after all so make use of that fact. Use dialogue or other tools to setup the story rather than spell it out blow by blow to the reader. Sometimes less is more, you can imply things without having to tell it 100%. Also, I would recommend using character tags.

BATTLEFLIIIIIRT!

lol. and coincidentally, LoL. So, black market style dealings happen on the battlefield, eh? That's cute. A very cute idea. Funny because like most videogames, death has no real meaning. Not in PvP, or PvE(except the annoyance one feels at forgetting when they last saved. Ha!) So we can totally wonder what the hell they get up to between spawns or while looking for that tower dive opportunity.

Alright, down to the crit. I didn't see any spelling or grammar errors. One thing. Action/fighting scenes; certain tricks can be deployed here to really heighten the drama of the situation. Short, punchy sentences. When you use a lot of commas, it sort of drags the eye along and tempts it to skim. You don't want skimming.

And my old yarn of was/were/had. But you've heard all that before.

Anyway, I liked it. I don't play LoL myself but I've been known to watch people play, either my bf or on Twitch. Or on Youtubes. I enjoyed the teasing between your protag and antag here, the professional courtesy they show each other. And such and things.

Cheers!
