That was really sad to read but also so moving and sort of uplifting at the end. I loved the courtroom scene - I like to think that Haymitch would stand up for her like that, when no one else does. And of course he's the one who's still there at the end.

I really really like your use of brackets and italics to show Katniss's thoughts. I don't think I've ever seen that done before and it works so well to show her distance from events - and at the same time her unwilling connection - it's very poignant, and very well done.

I am loving this insight into Hayitch and Katniss. You write them very thoughtfully. I would love to read from your point of view how he interacts with Peeta when he shows up. Eventually.
