IT GOT BETTER

Oh man, I LOVE this. I've always imagined that Ed would have a lot to contribute to Winry's work, so I'm so happy to read something that really fleshes that out! Al's worrying is so sweet, and the jumpsuit bit was great. You absolutely nailed their whole dynamic.

Ahh, this is great! Absolutely loving all the practical medical details, Ed's attitude and the dynamic between the two of them. Every part of this so far feels very well thought-out, but natural and in-character at the same time.

I liked it a lot, very cute story and amazing the way you wrote about automail, I honestly have no idea if its right or not but it seemed plausible and very well researched.

Oooooh! This is kind of a prequel of Put On Your Coveralls (Which I've read... a long time ago) :DDD

Again, love the flow you have in your character interactions. Just like the previous one, your Ed-Al interactions just seem wonderfully on-point.

Are you planning for more? Perhaps from Edward's POV? It feels like there should be a third part.

Oh, this is just delightful. The interaction between Winry and Edward in the beginning is so organic, and their actions are so natural, that it's really easy to see something just like that happening in canon.

The only thing I wish is that we could have seen more of the surgery-automail surgeries are always so interesting, and everyone does it so differently; I would have loved to see your take on how it's done.

Also, I have to point out that you missed an awesome opportunity to have fun with Drugged!Ed. Just sayin'.

But on the overall, two thumbs up, especially for the great Edward-Winry interactions.

Thanks for writing this story. I always wished that the anime/manga had dealt with this subject at least once, that Edward would've gone through more automail surgeries as he grew from a scrawny eleven-year-old into a young man. How awful that would have been for the boy, who had already suffered so much already. It also would've sidelined him from missions for Mustang more than once, and would've been a reason for frustration for the boys, as it would've been seen as another delay in Ed finding a solution to keeping his promise to Alphonse. Al, in turn, most likely would've felt guilty for Ed's continued suffering, dealing with the realities of having automail. Getting a new port for his arm had to have been so much worse than just his leg.

Although this story takes place after the events of the FMA series, it is a wonderful look into the continuing relationship between Ed and Winry, and how she will always be watching out for her man, where it comes to his automail needs. It is sad though, that someone as brilliant as Edward doesn't really have a career of his own. I still HATE how Arakawa ended her series, robbing Edward of his alchemy was a Deus ex Machina move, and didn't make much sense if you really stopped to think about it. Back to your story, when Al reacted to Ed wearing something of Winry's I have to confess, I thought he might be wearing a nightshirt or Winry's nightgown. It would've been in fashion for men to wear back in that era, and I could see Ed not wanting to wear any tight clothing while he was still recovering from his surgery. I hope you will continue to write for FMA, we need more high quality stories in this fandom!

This was a nice light read. Nothing's too heavy, and every word does it's job. Creative delve into automail. All character's involved are IC. All in all, quite well written!
