Sorry, but while I love the stories I should mention that education was compulsory and FREE for children in the USSR, a social worker regularly checked that this was complied with in each family. And I think even if his father was sent to Gulag, Illya would still be able to go to school. Moreover, I don’t think his mother couldn’t find a job, besides the salaries were quite the same and there were other ways to get food and clothes, so if she did sell herself, that wasn’t because they were poor, everyone was poor back then, it was for protection, hers and her son’s, because they were the “traitor’s” family and could have been affected (ostracised) or even arrested BY PROXY (yes, that’s the way it worked back when Stalin was alive).

Just discovered the film of Man from Uncle- late as usual! This was really good. I enjoyed reading it!

I have read and read this fic so many times seems I know the lines by heart... but of all the chapters posted, this is my favorite one - I am not a sadist, by any means... but I think the way Napolean was tortured and rescued, it somehow made the base of Illya and Solo' friendship stronger... I loved the bromance and I love h/c/sick Napolean... so please write more on this... and more Napolean whump, please and Illya to the rescue...with loads of bromance... I do love Gabby but somehow its always Cowboy and Peril and their weirdly strong brotherhood that touches my heart...thanks for the fic :)

I've a request (which I feel as if I've asked before, but I'm not sure...my memory is not the greatest at all): Solo gets a comeuppance from the CIA, like Illya did with the KGB story of yours. Please? I know you'll do the story a big justice. *puppy dog eyes*

Yeah, I kinda agree, this feels like it needs Solo's POV, but what you do have is amazing. Poor Gaby. That cannot be easy, learning such news. I do wonder what it was Solo and Waverly were "discussing" that made Waverly even think of bringing Rudi up. Hmmm. Intriguing. *waggles eyebrows*

It makes sense that Solo and Illya would say things like they did. Now, whether they actually mean them is another thing altogether, especially Solo. Me thinks the man protestest a little too much in here. Ah well. Still fits their characters.

I think my favorite part of this whole chapter was the one where Solo couldn't open the door and Illya did it for him, without being asked. Second favorite is where they admitted they've never had someone looking out for them. The Feels darn near killed me there. :D

Hello - I am enjoying your portrayal of these characters and would like to offer a story line. There is a scene in the film just after Illya has rescued Solo from Uncle Rudi's chair. They are strapping him in and Illya hits the switch that sends a jolt through Rudi (and, accidently, Napoleon) - There is a look of horror in Illya's eyes as he looks across to Napoleon. I would like to read your take in what was going through Illys's thoughts at that moment. Hope you care to give it a go.

I really liked this chapter! You captured the friendship and 'more than friendship' tension between Gabby and Illya perfectly! The insightful descriptions regarding Illya's smile and eyes were both intriguing and powerfully moving. I sympathize with Gabby's concern and feel bad that she must betray them. All in all, a great read. Please keep writing!
