This story made me grin. I loved all four of them and they were perfectly in character. I also loved how you made us think it was about Salazar's racism against muggles and muggleborns at the beginning only to have it turn out to be about squids.

LOL I love how misleading this is! It makes you think, oh this is about Muggle-borns. The part when it says giant squid and when Godric thinks it can talk always cracks me up. Also nice little frozen touch there! Here is basically full version: LET THE SQUID LIVE, LET THE SQUID LIVE, HE HAS A LIFEEEEE, LET HIM LIVE, LET HIM LIVEEEEE, SCREWWWWWW SALAZAR AND HIS IDEAS! THERE IT SWIMSSSSS, AND THERE IT STAYS! LET THE COLD RAGE ONNNNN! The cold's never bothered him anyways :)

Bwahahaahahaha... That does explain why they have a giant squid-though not how Godric managed to get it to the lake in the first place. Poor badgered Salazar! I wonder if the ladies noticed it had been in the lake since November, considering how nonchalant they are being about its presence...

And I note that no one actually vetoed the idea of Salazar getting his own dangerous beast, and since Salazar could speak to the basilisk it was probably actually less of an overall hazard to the students than the squid would be... Actually, definitely less of a danger in the beginning, the snake stayed in a private chamber the students had no access to while anyone could go up to the lake.
