Another lovely story! I especially love Drax, and how he gets it, but makes no show of it, just treats Groot normal (and Dessia too), and calls them out for being so surprised about the speech. Not to say Quill and Gamora aren't good friends or anything: their caring, support and growing understanding are much more important than their innate biases against Groot's nonverbal being, and they will continue to learn how to read him, I'm sure. (Also, Quill finding the card was very good of him, although there's a bit of a writing glitch there in that he got permission to keep it for Groot twice - but that's the only thing I noticed in the whole story.) In a way, I even like how they make a bit too much of a deal sometimes and it bugs Groot a little, because that's SO TRUE (it reminded me a bit of my mom: whenever she gets eye-contact from my brother she always points it out, meaning well, but it's like, noooo, don't do that: he already knows he made the effort just fine, and the spotlight's making him self-conscious and reluctant to do it again).

I was a bit worried Kaal was taking advantage of Groot, but he wasn't a bad guy - patronizing and not understanding, but still, it could have gone a lot worse both before and after his services were turned down. Groot bidding him a kind goodbye, unlike the callous medics, and returning the kiss was a really sweetly poignant moment. Care factor can be hit or miss sometimes in hospitals, so I'm glad everyone working on Rocket was so lovely, especially Imali - and her granddaughter. Rocket being okay was also a relief, obviously, and it was good that they snapped the trigger-fueled hurt shut immediately: an open and honest friendship is the best.

Also, Groot's gloriously serene bath made me jealous, heehee. Keep up the great work!
