I love that Legolas is ever indulgent of Aragorn ever since Aragorn's childhood. It was nice to juxtapose the idea of losing Legolas' through injury versus Aragorn through old age. Loved getting the thoughts of both.

Good story.

This was masterful writing, indeed, what a beautiful moment in time captured in words. I adore a well rounded friendship writing or "still moment" and this most definitely qualifies. I especially adore the "wanderlust" and "wild" quality of Legolas, it is in a word, enticing.

I must say, this is not your usual fare. And yet I love it!

I can only imagine how difficult it must have been trying to capture Legolas' and Aragon's voices after such a long time of writing only from Gimli's point of view. But you did very well, and as always you conveyed all the emotions and characteristics perfectly.

It sounds terrifying, how caged Legolas feels. We have already seen his reaction to being confined to stone quarters, but only through Gimli's eyes. "Experiencing" this through the Elve's is something entirely different.

And then there is this conversation about age and dying, and I appreciate how little Legolas understands it and how thus it frightens him. Aragorn, on the other hand, like all young men doesn't fear the end yet and perhaps he never will. But what has happened made him aware of how even when young things can come to an end, and I love how this leads him to the desicion that he will make the best of whatever time that he is given.

Thank you for this powerful, and emotional little story. It's a beautiful tale!

Their relationship is so touching, and in some ways, Legolas is the child, even if he is older. Great job. I really enjoyed it.

There is such a different feel to this piece. The stumbling Legolas a complete contrast to the last fic. You have great accuracy and convey that sense of loss and fumbling of illness ever so well.

Tam: *swoons* The angst. The fluff.
Aragorn: *sighs* I'll get tea.
Tam: *squeaks* TEA!
Elrohir: *winces* I think I hear Ada calling.
Elladan: *nods* I as well.
Tam: *snorts as they flee* Pussies.
Aragorn: *raises an eyebrow*
Tam: *rolls her eyes* Fine, fine, reviewing already. Sheesh, you're pushy.

1) Poor Legolas. That scene was so hard to read, mostly cause it had such feels in it. The angst. Time is seemingly endless to him and to see death in such a prominent way must truly scare him. *hugs said character* Don't' worry, I'm still here for you.

2) Aragorn is such a great friend. I think he went about helping Legolas in just the right way. Kudos to you on getting him and Legolas in-character.

All in all, a great story. Thanks for posting/creating it.

How did Legolas get hurt? (I know that isn't the point of the story, but still!)

How strange it must be for Legolas to see the dying old woman and try to comprehend what is happening. He will never lose his father permanently, and will see his mother again one day, yet he feels deeply enough that thinking of a permanent death - and the fact that Aragorn accepts it so peacefully - is too much for him.

You do such a great job of making the characters' voices distinct. I love your Gimli, of course, but I also love your Legolas and hope that you will write in his voice more often :)

Aragorn! :) It was kind of odd to have it from Aragorn's point of view, because I must admit I have become used to Gimli from you, but I loved it. It would be hard to imagine an elf being killed for Aragorn when he was that age, not to mention Legolas, who is usually the embodiment of life.

Ooh! You are killing me! You know how long I have waited for Aragorn and Legolas. What a great story to wake up to on a Saturday morning.

Sadder, deeper, than yesterdays story but just as wonderful. I loved how you captured Legolas's fever induced panic at being trapped inside away from the song and the trees and his incomprehension watching a mortals death. Poor Legolas, his friends mortality is such an ongoing burden to him, one which he is unable to truly understand ever.
While in this story he brightens up after Aragorn asks him not to spoil what time they have brooding, you can see he just files it away to come back to haunt him later. It is not something he ever accepts really.
And we got to see inside Aragorn's head...for the first time I think! He fitted well with the older Aragorn we have seen in your other stories...and we see how Aragorn has learned to manipulate Legolas so well, that skill he has that Gimli envies so frequently!
It is good that Aragorn has learned this lesson I think, that despite Legolas's immortality he may be separated from him, lose him, just as Legolas must live all his life with the knowledge he WILL lose Aragorn in the end. A sharing of the pain and the burden of it all. For Legolas carries this fear with him always and it does frighten him I think, when he allows himself to dwell on it.

I must admit I found myself thinking back...well almost forward, to your last years stories of Leglas and Gimli speaking after Aragorns death, and Legolas's sadness after that which Gimli describes when he decides to sail with him. That idea is so painful to think on. But then I remembered Legolas and Faelwen about to sail and that made it bearable! He does get Faelwen to help him ease his heart in the end.

And the Three Hunters tomorrow...,.cant wait!
