Reviews for Lower Decks
ffntfy456 chapter 23 . 3/26
Glad to see you're writing again. I'm curious what Picard will do next.
Harold Lloyd chapter 1 . 5/14/2018
I'm likely not going to be reading this story, but I wanted to give you a bit of information in regards to your plot. (No, I'm not saying you stole; after all, you're probably at least 20 years younger than the most recent version of...)

In the late 1960s, a newbie writer named David Gerrold was approached to write a script for Star Trek. His script was never used. A couple of years later he restructured it as a novel called "Yesterday's Children", which was published in 1972. It told the story of a heavily-used (and abused) starship and it's equally-so crew. Along comes a newbie junior officer who wants to make everybody gung-ho again. The story is told from the POV of the lower decks rather than the senior officers (which is why Roddenberry et al turned it down).

Apparently Gerrold rewrote the story in 1980. I have no idea what it's like now as I've not read that version of it.

Just goes to show the old adage is true; there's nothing new under the sun.

This story is so amazing that it puzzles me this story does not have more reviews. The characters are beautifully drawn, the writing is some of the best quality that I've ever seen in any fandom and in many published works and the plot has been painstakingly rendered to the most minute detail. I thank you for allowing us to read this story. Your writing and your story are appreciated, and I honestly hope you update soon, as the only thing wrong with this story is that there's not more of it to read.
Guest chapter 22 . 7/17/2017
This story is one of the best that I've ever read. In every area that counts, from characters and writing to plot and world building, this story is superb. I absolutely adore this story, and I hope you can post again soon, as I am definitely looking forward to reading more.
Guest chapter 22 . 7/13/2017
I wanted to say how much this story is loved. It is, without a doubt, one of the best stories that I have ever read in any fandom and in any genre. Your characters are intricate, the plot is wonderfully complex and the interactions and conversations between and amongst characters are some of the best I've read. Thank you for writing and sharing this rare gem of a story. I definitely hope you post again soon, because I most definitely look forward to reading more.
Guest chapter 22 . 7/9/2017
Thanks for another amazing, brilliant and wonderful chapter. What I truly enjoy about your story is how you examine cultures and cultural beliefs and how you highlight the similarities and differences amongst and between peoples. The first contact depicted in this chapter illustrates this perfectly. Both the Federation and the Theocracy actually have many of the same morals and values. They should, based on this, be able to be friends, trading partners and even members of the Federation. However, their religious beliefs about artificial life place them at odds with the Federation, and because the Theocracy isn't ready for such beliefs to be challenged or, at least, to work around them, then, first contact had to become the only contact for the time being. This was beautifully and superbly written, showing the intricacies of first contact and diplomacy. You also show what it really does take for extremely diverse peoples to live together in harmony. Thank you for writing and sharing this story which deserves and should have hundreds of reviews. This story is simply one of the best stories that I've read in any fandom and in any genre and in both published and unpublished fiction. I absolutely loved the chapter and love this story, and I can't wait to see what will happen next.
Anony chapter 22 . 7/8/2017
I don't often review, but I wanted to say I have been enjoying your story immensely, and particularly appreciated this chapter, and your portrayal of an alien culture.
Guest chapter 21 . 4/2/2017
Thank you for continuing to write this amazing story. It is a true favorite, and it is one of the best that I have read in any fandom. The characters that you have created are vivid, vibrant and rich, and I love the conversations, interactions and situations that you create for them so that we, as readers, can experience their hopes, fears and dreams. Thanks for writing and sharing one of the best fanfics and stories that I have read in a long, long time. I love everything about this story, and I truly look forward to reading more.
Aussie SciFi Tragic chapter 21 . 4/1/2017
Thanks for another good Part. Great seeing how the colonisations are going. I love the mini series feel to this fic.

I will be sad if the AI Rose does find her owner species.

This is turning into quite a career changing exercise for the Enterprise crew.
dualnature chapter 9 . 1/7/2017
Really well-drawn plots and situations. Feels like you're watching the show!
taleanaomi chapter 20 . 12/7/2016
That was good. I don't have much to say about your writing ability because it's wonderful. I enjoyed the story, though I did feel the part about Mongolia was to long for my tastes. Honestly it bored me a little. BUT the parts about Taliaferro working with Lily was woefully short! I love to read more about their unique working relationship. It's a joy when characters find someone who understands them. Thank you for sharing.
HEB807 chapter 20 . 11/22/2016
I absolutely loved this chapter. My favorite part had to be the ship named Missouri because that's my home state.
Guest chapter 20 . 11/20/2016
Thank you for writing and sharing another brilliant chapter of this amazing story. The characters are so well-developed, and the plot keeps me glued to my screen, every time I see a new chapter. My only complaint is that there isn't more to read, as this story is absolutely and positively one of the best stories I have read in any fandom. Thank you, again, for writing and sharing this journey with us readers. I absolutely loved the chapter, and I hope you post more soon.
Aussie SciFi Tragic chapter 20 . 11/20/2016
This is coming a long so well. I love how the Ot'Hessan are accepting Federation help. I'm intrigued by the Luddite group being prepared to consider coexisting with them.

In all the Star Trek eps never has a resettlement been so managed in such detail. It was always so clinical if you will. This is fascinating. I assume there will still be pitfalls, usually derstandings and friction.

The abandoned space station has me intrigued. Also, would Hessa ever leave her sisters? I think Aela would struggle the most with it. Deb, not so much. But I think Aela will always consider Deb as her foster mother despite the sister arrangement.

I look forward to seeing what happens next!
