I read this too early in the morning. My chest hurts. That was so good!

one of the things that bothers me about the final ep. they never showed merlin/gaius /trying/ anything else! like, oh say, the cup of life (argument being, no one should give their life for arthur's, counterargument being, merlin would gladly, game-point - druids used it on leon without sacrificing someone!)...
best line - you must tear yourself to pieces, emrys, in order to save your king. you must do it precisely and without hesitation. are you capable of it?... yes.
so they really are 'soul mates', huh? ;)
nice concept that arthur's spirit will accompany merlin, i like that.

Hey JessieJay. I will confess, I have avoided this story until I felt I was in the right frame of mind to read. Glad to say, a glass of wine and a quiet evening has put me in that place. Now I can say what a wonderful, if not somewhat depressing, alternative ending (start?) The thought of immortality is one that makes me cringe. No one could even begin to imagine the fear it would evoke in Merlin to learn this truth. Hopefully, at least having Arthur back for another 50 years will help prepare him for the years ahead. Sigh.
