This was awesome! Crap, it's like 3 am and I'm out of words (actually it's 3:14, haha, it's pi-o-clock!) (yes I know I'm such a nerd) but I couldn't NOT review this, this is exactly the kind of post-ep I was envisioning, wanting to read from the moment the episode ended. And his face, I knew exactly when you were talking about before I even read the story... I couldn't get it out of my head either. The shock on her face, the way she melted into his embrace, ugh, everything about this episode was just so... AHH! Wonderful job on the follow up and I think very realistic and in character for both of them - and you can feel their desperation to hang onto each other, to be tangled up together so thoroughly that nothing could ever part them again, not even for a minute. And I think you got the details on the nightmares 100% right - I especially liked the part (well... can I say 'liked'? I mean it was well done, not that I enjoy murder) when she dreamed Nieman had turned into her mother after she stabbed her. That feels so real for Kate's character.

In any case, this is fabulous writing, I think you got the tone exactly right - they're in shock, they're not broken, not destroyed, but they're not stoic either. I now realize I've been rambling for a couple paragraphs about how I like your story and I still feel like I barely said anything good enough to convey that message, so I'm gonna stop talking, but needed to let you know this was a job well done! Oh, and I LOVE the Neruda reference. And the Macbeth reference, I actually kept thinking of that scene as I read post-eps... picturing Kate going "Out, damn spot!" Yeah, I'm not a literature nerd at all ;)

That was so good - I'm glad you weren't finished. And if you feel you have more - say a little scene between Martha, Alexis & Kate or just Alexis & Kate, well trust me, I'd read it and love it.

I know I read this when it was published, but somehow, I didn't review it. and that's not right, especially when I loved it so much. Such beautiful imagery, the poem was perfect, and this story is a great example of what their relationship is: support they both support each other no matter what. They need each other.
