ShinyKyu chapter 29 . 2/3 Man, this fic was a wild ride. I was just looking for a wacky Robin-centered Smash Bros fic that didn’t involve M!RobinxShulk (not that I dislike MxM, but more like I usually avoid crossover pairings in general and layering the MxM with a canonically straight guy (though I don’t know about Shulk, never played Xenoblade) in it makes it even weirder. But anyways, I did not get what I expected and it was still very fun. With the mentions of Peach wanting Daisy in Smash, Smashers who retired, and Chrom, I wonder how this story might’ve changed had it taken place in Ultimate, now that all fighters are back, Echo Fighters (including Daisy and Chrom) exist, and new FE additions like Corrin (I know Corrin came as Smash 4 DLC, but it came after this fic) and recently Byleth have joined. Or what if there was a continuation of this fic where Smash 4 ends and Ultimate begins?Master Hand being very happy to announce the whole “EVERYBODY IS HERE!” thing and someone like Chrom comes by after the Robins are a married couple and becomes extremely confused. Peach shouts for joy because Master Hand finally listened and got Daisy in, and literally everyone else who joins or comes back creates some kind of commotion. Excluding events in Ultimate though, I did think that Grima not being permanently dead could lead to something interesting. Like he stops trying to take over but gains strength enough to be a normal (if annoying) voice in his head and wants to eventually get out and get his own body, potentially being a new smasher that has a sightly different move set from the Robins. Maybe they find a way to actually separate Rob and Grima’s souls, make a new body with perhaps black hair and red eyes, and give Grima more dark magic in his move set, like a Flux/Mire to replace Arcfire, a stronger Nosferatu, and a Final Smash where he temporarily gains dragon form to hit with Expiration. |
ded chapter 29 . 4/4/2019 Well damn. Read this whole thing in three days. Was a rollercoaster to say the least...but a damn good one at that. Nice job. |
lcoro528 chapter 10 . 8/14/2017 I like the idea of how Robin (M) was reminding her of Chrom at C-Support, when he told her that she wasn't much of a lady. That made me laugh as you brought it back. |
lcoro528 chapter 5 . 8/13/2017 To answer your question on Chapter 5, I was at the timeline of Middle Earth (LOTR) with some of my friends, and I was a master swordsman while they had their own capabilities. |
jordanlink7856 chapter 9 . 1/19/2017 This is still one of the strangest concepts out there, but it's nice. |
jordanlink7856 chapter 1 . 1/16/2017 Well it's technically S Support still. |
Yakom Tskatsuki chapter 9 . 3/25/2016 Three pairings: Little Mac x Samus Robin x Robin Shulk x Lucina |
robotortoise chapter 29 . 2/16/2016 An interesting humor story that evolved into a drama! |
NitroTheKidd88 chapter 29 . 2/6/2016 Y'know, it's about time I finally read this last chapter and reviewed the story. I just can't believe it's done. First off- I need to say this. Chrom Mii did nothing wrong. The poor bloke. But seriously, that was absolutely hilarious [but kind of sad once you realize that Chrom doesn't exist here-]. 10/10. Second, this whole chapter made me regret not reading this sooner. The epilogue was nice and sweet, skimming over what happened after nicely. It's too bad that Robin got her paycheck cut too, though... As if no tomes weren't enough. And, at last, Peach and Lucina have a bit less tension and they finally reveal their feelings! I am glad that you had Lucina still trying to get over her feelings, though. Although it is pretty sad, it's also realistic. RIDICULOUS THOUGHTS FROM NITRO #1 The pure mental image of Shulk using the Monado to cheat at games in itself. Just imagine him playing Mario Kart and suddenly "A VISION!" as he brakes into 2nd place so some poor CPU can get the Blue Shell. I also like that you sorta-mentioned the tiers- the Robins are pretty low-tier, but they're fan-favorites. Seeing your interpretation of this was pretty interesting to see! And, last but not least, the ending. I had to get up and walk around the house after that line, because, hell, that sounds like something I would say- Anyways, that was just... adorable, oh my god, I am still giggling as I type! I like that you left the amount of months under speculation, though, so it could be literally a week and a half after the Grima incident to a few years. But still, that was amazing- I can't even put it into words how good that was! [And Rob not having the physical strength to carry Robin was also a little detail I liked.] RIDICULOUS THOUGHTS FROM NITRO #2 Rob pulls out a condom instead of the gift- Robin opens the Seal and instead of a ring, there's a condom- [can I apologize for that one-] But man, I honestly cannot believe this is a finished story... Keep on writing, MahNati! Now, to catch up on your other stories. |
Makokam chapter 29 . 10/24/2015 I never really liked the whole "i wont be a second choice" thing. Sometimes things don't work out with people and then you move on. I could see Lucina and Peach working very well if they just gave Lucina time to move on, and to decide if she wanted to be with Peach. I don't know if you know this, but there IS and item in Awakening that can turn a lucky lady into a Bride class warrior. It's a bouquet, of course, and can only be found in the otherealm stages. She can use, I believe, bows and spears. The Mii Costumes were an interesting thing to bring in. I wonder what Samus thinks of the ones dressing up as her. There were still a few typos, you wrote something like, "he took away his monado away" for example. But I loved this chapter as much as I've loved any of your chapters. I really want to get back into writing, but I'm not quite there yet in my head. Which sucks. Majorly. I mean, it's taken so long for me to write the one Smash fic I've actually started, that I'm wondering if I should just wait for next valentines day, regardless of when I get it done! Anyway, thanks for writting this story, and I look forward to reading more from you. Makokam out. |
YouWin124 chapter 29 . 10/20/2015 And so our story of Robin/Robin action takes its final bow. Though their story may have ended, like you said the world you've created does have a lot more potential. Perhaps some side stories featuring a resolution to the Peach/Lucina subplot? I'm just winging ideas here. Nice job including the Mii Chrom costume. I legitimately didn't think of that at first but I'm so glad you put it in. Lucina really is blue haired Cordelia, isn't she? I'm so sorry. I'm glad you share the headcannon of Robin's sexuality (which is more or less the premise of my story). It just seems...right. Grey area here is Lucina aware of the Robin's relationship with each other. I can't remember but I don't think she is. When she finds that out I think you might just have your short story ideas in play. But hey, hey if you want to do other things I'll settle for rereading the fic a bunch more times. It really is just that good. Overall I've got nothing more to say than it's been one hell of a ride and I glad to have been on it every step of the way. Good job. PS. The chapter title with the bracket around the 'elf' made me think Link was going to be in it...because you know he looks like an elf? With the ears? Maybe I'm just missing the obvious. |
Smash King24 chapter 29 . 10/19/2015 NOTE: This review contains spoilers for any new readers of this story. If you would like a brief summary, please scroll down to the very end of this review. This review will mainly encompass everything from chapters 24 to 29, although the final points I have at the bottom is in regards to the story in its entirety. First, a small intro... I never thought I would like the RobxRobin pairing since they share the complications of being the same character but genderswapped. This story proved me wrong though, proving that even with the same character duplicated, you can still make a dramatic (and dare I say saucy) romance between the two. The chemistry that the two Robins have with each other is simply charming, the male one being prideful and compassionate while the female is caring yet somewhat hot-headed. They started off as awkward room mates only to slowly fall in love with each other as the course of the tournament wore on. Not just the Robins, but all the characters in this story have some sort of dynamic that makes their personalities fleshed out and realistic. Some characters, although appearing as OOC at first, seem to fit in with the overall theme of this story in that everyone is trying their best to help each other since at the end of the day, we're all clones stuck in a world destined to beat the living bejesus out of each other. And now onto the remaining chapters. I'm all caught up with the last five chapters I missed, the important things introduced being Mewtwo and of course the final battle with Rob's parasitic nemesis Grima. First thing's first: I thought Mewtwo was cleverly written, appearing to be a somewhat laid back version of his anime counterpart. Thankfully he was willing to help with the Grima issue, but only if the Smashers could deliver Rob right to him. Shulk gets caught by Master Hand at the expense, but eventually they make it back to Mewtwo's apartment to begin the ritual. Robin is put to sleep and enters Rob's mind, where the true horror of this whole incident stems from. Everyone is on some kind of time limit because Master Hand is literally standing outside banging on the door since he wants to kill Rob and be rid of Grima once and for all. To me his motives are interesting since he believes that killing Rob and replacing him with a fresh new one will resolve the Grima problem. As true as that is, they still lose Rob, even if he does get reborn without his memories. It kind of makes me feel bad for the characters since they're just these pawns that can be created and killed off just like that if Master Hand says so. I can see why Shulk has a bit of dislike for him given his history, but to me it's astounding how Master Hand refuses to see what the other Smashers are trying to tell him. I mean, he probably is aware of the alternatives, but truly believes that his solution is absolute, thus there's no reason why he shouldn't be going with it. On a random note, I found the part with Lucina trying to distract him to be kind of funny. I was also expecting her to kiss Robin, which you caught and teased. The characters in this story have such great relationships with each other! The climax takes place in Rob's mind, where an inner battle is occurring between him and Grima. Robin ends up confronting him first, losing her sight and whatever strength she has left. I thought it was strange how Grima didn't do away with her when he got the chance since he totally knows what's she's capable of after having fought her before in the past. Anyway, the true battle has to do with Rob and his feelings for himself and Robin. He just becomes afraid and sad that there's nothing he can do, but seeing Robin hurt turns all that around, proving that truthfully, love conquers all (kind of wish you didn't have to resort to that moral, but then again it didn't seem like there was really anything else this climax was trying to drive home). The battle was a great flashback to the Awakening game, although Grima's death was a little underwhelming. I didn't really understand how Robin was able to use her body as a shield since she was already getting hurt from Grima in the other chapter, yet once they were fighting on the dragon they were immune to each other? Anyway, the Robins save the day, they return to the real world and reunite with their friends, the tournament goes on, the Robins get married, and Lucina is forced to deal with a strange man dressed as her father (that mii is so troll lol). And they all lived happily ever after! That is until Grima decides to come back. I'm glad you didn't just kill him off though since even in his original game he can't just simply die. Nice touch there I must say. I applaud you for expanding this story into something far beyond what you were originally setting out for. The relationship the Robins build in the first half of this story really help drive home the feelings they have for each other during the final battle. The characters are by far my favorite aspect of this story (as I've said before in other reviews) since this story offers a wide variety of Smash characters to read about, some of my favorite cameos being Dedede, Captain Falcon, and Jigglypuff. Side characters like Peach and Shulk were also very interesting since they also seemed to be going through their own inner conflicts as the story wore on, only to be resolved at the very end. The only character who kind of vanished was Mewtwo, who didn't get much mentioned about him after he served his purpose in the story. I just like seeing closure is all, and you pretty much hit the nail on the head regarding the other characters. In short, I shall summarize the ups and downs of this story for any readers interested in reading this soon-to-be Super Smash Bros. classic: Good: -The setting is original, taking place in a world where the Smash Bros. characters are carbon copies of their canon counterparts. They retain all memories and experiences of their original personas, at the expense of some minor OOCness for story progression purposes. -The characters are likeable, fun, and diverse. I can promise that there isn't one character that you won't enjoy reading about in this story. -Although there are two main characters, the story expands on several other characters and their own personal problems whether it has to do with relationships or their identity. Characters who portray this the most are Shulk, Lucina, Peach, Lucario, Ness, and Master Hand. -The pairing is original and daring, and presents some weird thought-provoking messages to the reader. For example, "Would you date a genderswapped clone of yourself?" -The author is true to every character's original series regarding lore and backstory. The only exception to this may be Peach, who ditches the girly-girl archetype she is recognized as for something much more sisterly. -If you're a romance fan, or just like to read the occasional smut every now and then, this story will tease you so much you'll be begging the author to write a spinoff lemon-shot about X pairing. -Finally, this story has lots of jokes and references that true Nintendo fans will undoubtedly catch! Bad: -Spelling and grammar can be questionable at times. This includes word choices. For example, there's a line describing two characters sharing a lovely kiss, but when they move away from each other they are described as if they just aggressively made out. -As much as the author tries to stay true to everyone's series, the antagonist in this story returns on a rather small scale compared to its canon counterpart. Not only that, but the villain is introduced somewhat late into the story, which kind of puts a damper on the final battle near the stories conclusion. -Fighting scenes can be kind of dull, which occurs throughout the course of the story. The exception is the last battle, which had much more to offer in terms of action and distress. Overall, the good outweighs the bad, and the negative points can easily be overlooked without putting much thought into it. No story is perfect after all, but I can say without doubt that I for one really enjoyed this story. It has everything I expect from a Smash Bros. story, and that is character development, fighting, and jokes. This has been a wonderful read and I highly recommend this to anyone interested in exploring a not-so-written-about pairing. Who knows, maybe you'll even learn a thing or two about yourself just like the Robins did. All the best MahNati. And thanks for posting! -Smash |
Blackhawks8 chapter 29 . 10/17/2015 This story is absolutely awesome! The events all follow the plot very well. At least I have some understand about Fire Emblem Awakening, which I want to play so much along with Xenoblade Chronicles. You deserve a pat on your back for this. Looking forward for future stories because I'll be watching them! :) |
SmashBrosFan96 chapter 29 . 10/17/2015 nice ending I when into this story thinking it was gonna be some simple Robin/Robin fic, but it wasn't. while I've never played the Fire Emblem series, it seems to have a intresting universe, probably more complex than Zelda's. I think Nintendo should make a Fire Emblem anime series, I mean come on, the last Nintendo show was F-Zero Gp Legend, I know Pokemon is still going, but let's face it, its fucking endless, I'm sure it won't hurt them, as long as its done well, not only would I be down with that, I would love to see a Kid Icarus anime as well, the reason why I pick animes over american made shows is because people here in the US just don't understand the games universe, they never played the games and they use it for research, then we got crap like the Mario cartoons and the Mario Bros Movie, Anime gets almost everything right, Sonic X was closer to the games accept the added unneeded characters like Chris, (fuck that guy), they did the same thing with Kirby Right back at ya! and F-Zero GP Legend, as long as its a straight up adaptation and if the writing is good, they got a hit!. love that Lucina's weapon had to go to the mii that dresses up as Chrome, your salty about that? I feel the same way about the mii dressing as King K Rool, please Sakurai! let him in! now that I think about it, wouldn't Chrome be a clone of Ike? its what Veridi said, "there's no point of having 2 characters that are just carban copies" but as Sakurai said "as long as they have one move thats slightly diffrent, they get a slot". sucks that Lucina had to reject Peach, at least she let her down easy, guess she'll have go back to acting like her and Mario are a thing. maybe Rosalina, she's alright, never found her to be Wifeoo material though. So both Robins are getting Married, hope it works out for them, of course it will. again, this was a great story, hope to see more from you soon. |
ShadowFenix98 chapter 29 . 10/16/2015 I thought this story was excellent! keep up this great standard of work in your other stories MahNati! |
