Oh, Gd. I was in a sleepaway camp that made us cheer before we entered the dining room for every meal but breakfast. It was torment. We had to come up with a unique cheer every day as well, and it had to be novel or creative or we'd be told to try again.

I absolutely loved this. When I first learned—only through a video thankfully—what real drowning looks like and how many kids drown with their parents nearby thinking they're okay, I was really shocked. Loved seeing this, though I'm kind of disappointed McCoy didn't get recognition for it.

Sorry to correct you again, but "The social gaff" would be properly spelled "the social gaffe". This story is really awesome, though!

This may be rather late, but as the line "I-Chaya, shom-tor" is a command, it would be phrased "I-Chaya, shom'uh". I really love these stories though!

That was hilarious. I could totally feel for McCoy as I felt exactly the same way at college orientation, camp staff orientation, etc.: how exactly is being required to act childish - even if we're not comfortable or interested in the situation - supposed to prepare us for acting maturely?
