I agree with OblivionKisame for the most part, in that the writing is fairly littered with grammar errors, odd word selection, and oddly structured sentences. I feel this story would've benefited greatly from a beta or a proof reader. Besides that, for whatever reason, it just doesn't feel like this story works, at least not for me. There's right ways to present stories with mental trauma, especially if Neo is at the center of it all. I don't feel something like this is really the right direction to take her, feeling like a weak little girl and all. I feel two stories that do mental issues and Neo pretty well, can't remember the name though you could find em easy if ya filter for the pairing, but essentially one is Ruby is tipped over the edge and Neo develops a sort of obsession over her and is still sort of psychotic, but cares about Ruby in her own way. The other is one where at a young age she was orphaned, took on a new name because she couldn't remember her birth name, and became aura bound to people as essentially a servant without any free will of her own, which obviously creates issues.

I assume this ferryman was based off of Charon, the ferryman of greek mythology who brought souls from the living word to that of the Underworld?

I doubt this will be answered but im curious anyway. For the ferrymans fate explanations did you take that straight from the fate series? Fate zero/fate stay night/ubw. It sounds quite similar.

Ah man...this day...back before the bubble burst. I will remember this chapter as it was written on such an important occasion.
