I missed this one! Its funny how different things strike you in different stories. I realized, though, reading this, and "Waves", how very well you handle these fascinating characters as they reconcile the potential of romantic intimacy with the burdens they've placed on each other during their long association. I really liked the detailed and necessary, I think, discussion revisiting Jane's sunset declaration and deception in "Waves" very much, but I also like the broader (?framing?) discussion in this story (as you note, there are 'things that need to be spoken about'), which clearly advances the intention of the characters work through the wounds they've inflicted on each other but, so much more importantly, advances their commitment to do such necessary healing together.

Oh my god, starry, this is why you are my favorite writer! You write them so amazingly well, so emotionally deep and thought out. It's everything I imagine they need to say and to work out but also sweet and perfect! I'll admit, I got misty! Them being truly happy gives me happy tears every time!
