What a fantastic story! I love how you hate Doris as much as I do! I'm not a huge fan of Catherine though. I think there is way more chemistry between Steve and Danny, even as a bromance. I hope to see more in this au.

Wonderful story. I loved the juxtaposition of cat drama and team drama, as well as all the rich descriptions and details that really add so much to a story. My all-time favorite part though was having Danny finally blast Doris. I liked how you offered explanation for some of Steve's inner quirks - like how such a tough ninja guy can have his own set of insecurities and doubts which although locked away are still there and can subtly or not so subtly influence his actions. Look forward to much more of Cujo and Steve.

And loved this story.

Let me begin by saying I WISH Show would recreate the scenes you wrote and hinted at of McG in hospital and high on meds...that would be SO cute! And love the McBambi here! She won't leave him alone. She's the mama he never had! And then he asks her that heart breaking question. And she gives him perfect answers. And then he asks her about her son... and so so sad.

I loved this part, I bet we all loved this part:
I'm so sorry, he said softly, as he wrapped his arms around her. She hugged back. They stood that way for a long minute, acknowledging loss and offering comfort. One having a mother's love to give and no one to give it to. One seeking a mother's love and having no one to get it from. Funny how things work out sometimes.

This convo really cemented their bond. I hope we'll see Bambi again in your stories. She is a wonderful original character.

Now on to the real heroes of our story, the cats! So she gave birth in McG's drawer. There's poetic justice for sure. He's such a softy. He immediately texted Catherine to give her the good news! She responds Congrats Grandpa! Perfect. Perfect McRoll and just perfect in every way. And he doesn't even care about his drawer. SUCH a softie! Such! And for a time, 5-0 is overtaken by a herd of kittens. Delightful. Delightful story, where Cujo actually very much played second fiddle to his human, but the human story in this was so compelling, Cujo provided the right comic relief when we needed it, but we got to see a magnificent, honest, troubled, but eventually triumphant McG here. Brava, honey! Really well done. Totally entertaining, and really just great backstory to our hero. Yay!

So he kicks McMommy to the curb...and Bambi is already there for him. McG does seem to make MOST people wanna take care of him. Too bad it's never his parents. Sigh. Anyway, we've all fallen in love with Bambi at this point. Great original character!

And the part face-off, part guy talk with Danno is just delightful! Good to know Danno sometimes realizes his words can hurt McG. Also good to hear him, once he gets that, really build McG up again, cos after his injuries and Mama, he needs some heavy support. Their convo is just excellent. So many things he needs to hear, so much support, and so much funny too. You do a great job mixing the humor with the drama and the pathos and it is just soooooo satisfying to read!

And the shenangans with the cats is just a delightful vaudevillian mix! Brava!

OMG I loved the McDoris showdown! I would love to see him really lay into her on Show, but as that may never happen, we get our catharsis, and his, thru you. I'm totally in! He held his ground with her and she, as in Show, really refuses to take upon herself any responsibility for her actions or his pain. I wonder if Lenkov even gets that at all...but I digress.

I love the lines:
Doris: John was bothered by the entire turn of events, you especially. I mean the way you were being raised.
McG: Yeah could see how that might be a concern for anyone who gives a shit.

Hee! I can hear Alex saying that. And so good to see McG standing up for himself. And good on Daddy McG! John, I mean. The one who really was the daddy.

And you gird their battle with the awesome realization from McG that he CAN commune with people...Cath being one reason. The ohana being another. But you know, deep down, he's just a very sentient guy...with or without the ohana. He's a good man, down into his bones.

And I totally agree on your Cath joy in your endnotes. ;)

I love Cujo. I am glad you gave him a woman to keep him in line. Wonderful set of stories. I hope we see more.

I just realized I may not have ever reviewed this last chapter - although I was positive I hsd (so I apologize for that).

I think you did a wonderful job wrapping this up - I loved all the chaos... Steve being hopped up on painkillers (again), kittens everywhere (especially Danny's living neck warmer - LOVED that).

The delivery of the photos at the end? That was just perfect. :)

Awww I loved this. Those will be some kick ass kitties if they take after their mum and dad ;) also liked Danny's comment about Steve and his feline attack force, that would be awesome! Love your writing and look forward to any future stories you write. Mahalo.

Wow! I loved the argument between Danny, Doris and then Bambi saying her piece. At first I thought it was harsh that Steve called her Doris but now I get why, she really annoys me, but I'm glad Steve turned out the way he did.
