Reviews for Crossfire
O'Donnell chapter 1 . 11/19/2016
Oh, this is seriously exquisite. I love the way you take a small scene from the show and expand it and develop it and let the characters run with it and grow. Where the reality ends and your reality begins is imperceptible. So many joys in this; from Sherlock whispering goodbye to John to Mycroft accepting his guilt, to the tension between them...absolutely brilliant and toe curlingly good.
What you do with Mycroft here is beyond beautiful, and this is a Mycroft addict writing this! Sherlock trying to get John to remove Mycroft is just desperate. Yes! More! (Please, pretty please, grovelling please...)

Another great scene-filler! Great writing and amazing characterization. I'm definitely going to be checking out more of your work.
Diddlepie chapter 1 . 11/12/2015
Wonderful! I was looking for a story that caught this missing scene and here it is. Nice word choices and I think you caught Mycroft nicely. He's a wonderful character. Thanks for a much enjoyed read.
TheGracefulBlueCat chapter 1 . 10/12/2015
I really liked to read your version of what happened in between the scenes.
I have written a collection of missing scenes about these events myself, but I kind of left out Mycroft, didn't know how to do it. You did put him in there and it's great!
I really love Mycroft showing his brotherly affection now and then.
Good job.
SailOnSilvergirl chapter 1 . 8/16/2015
I like missing scenes a lot, and this is one scene we all wanted to see. The interaction between John and Mycroft kept my interest. I think their voices are accurate. I think most of fandom agrees with you that Mycroft knew about Mary; it's just a matter of for how long and why.

You have some great phraseology, like "He squeezed the words past the construction in his throat."

Thank you for addressing why John, the trauma doctor, was not able to see how badly off Sherlock was: "His fury was blinding...John had been so utterly consumed by his own pain."

I also especially liked the Mycroft/John interaction here: "...'I'm dealing with the man who put him there'. John expected Mycroft to follow with an accusing look but it didn't happen."

Priceless: "If he wakes and finds me holding his hand, he'll think he's died and gone to hell." And Sherlock's, "He can't watch this" gave me a heart-clench."
3seconds chapter 1 . 8/7/2015
"If he wakes and finds me holding his hand, he'll think he's died and gone to hell." Such a perfect Mycroft line!
englishtutor chapter 1 . 11/13/2014
This is wonderfully done. I love the idea that Mycroft had known about Mary all along. And I adore the dynamic here between the brothers-each looking after the other in his own, strange way.
ijustsigneduptofollow chapter 1 . 10/3/2014
Somehow I missed reviewing this earlier! Oops.

I love your take on the dynamic between the brothers. They clearly love each other very much, are so clueless on how to show it without being destructive, but they both know it's there nonetheless. 'Keep him out of here- he can't watch this.'

Very well done!
hatondog chapter 1 . 9/28/2014
Actually, you were pretty spot on about the consequences of being shot in the chest. There aren't many places for a bullet to go there that aren't likely to be fatal. Gut shots are nearly as bad, but would have been a better choice for someone looking to incapacitate rather than kill. Still conflicted about this part of what was otherwise a truly phenomenal bit of television. Your filling in of the gaps was just as high in quality.
Saffysmom chapter 1 . 9/7/2014
You are excellent at writing these missing scenes! Very enjoyable to read.
