I really wish they had explored his deeper fears of losing her on the show. I'm sure they existed. He wasn't just concerned that she was tired. I think he was probably in denial until he knew one way or the other about her health. His singing in canon was the manifestation of his relief. This story gives us Charles expressing himself through a very different kind of song. Very nicely composed (no pun intended) and self contained one shot.

This is a breathtaking piece of art. I loved the contrasting vulnerabilities. They are so good for and to each other. Beautiful.

Piano music might have been more suited while reading this, as it were though, I listened to a beautiful interpretation of "I Saw Three Ships" for string quartet and this combined with your beautiful words, the very subtle handling of this really tough subject and the lovely conclusion it led to, made it altogether perfect. :)

If I didn't know how this ended for her, I'd be so depressed! But thankfully, she does receive good news, and you've written a beautiful story that goes along with it perfectly! I love it!
