Wow, very stark and poignant and probably closer to what the truth would be. A happy ending nevertheless, thank you for a remarkable story!

I love how you show us - with day marks! - the entire journey that gets her to this state: so often she is painted as a complete wreck, yet without knowing how she got there, it seems horribly OOC. This, however, seemed natural, and I love, love the end...yet I'd be interested to know more...what happens next? Would you consider writing a sequel, following immediately after the end of this one? And/or maybe a companion piece, from Chakotay's point of view, maybe explaining *his* journey in days?

Such a powerful piece of writing, definitely one of the most emotionally evocative that I've read in a while. I love how you truly captured the tone of depression and kept it so very Janeway. You had me dying inside. Until the end that is ;)
