Captain Lycan chapter 28 . 8/20/2015 Normally I would open with a joke or something like that but that wouldn't seem appropriate. The legacy virus arc was a truly dark but well written finale to this volume. Truly in the wake of this devastation nothing will be the same on the global or personal level going forward. One bit the really struck were the scenes of people across the world where you had people trying to dispose of the bodies or just trying to futilely battle the pandemic. I was reminded of Stephen King's the Stand, very chilling yet somehow poignant. At least Sinister paid for actions and hopefully won't be raising from the dead anytime soon. I also have to say I feel absolutely horrible for poor Kelly, no one should ever have to deal with that kind of loss. And now he has to deal with that turd Gyrich on top of everything else. Christ that man's gonna give Cheney a run for the title most assholian Vice President ever. On the other hand that was a very touching send off you gave to Proudstar. And it was nice to see Rogue finally be able to touch again. Of course we also have some resolution it seems between Raven and Logan, they're complex relationship is one your great accomplishments in this series. There are so many questions remaining about the future the X-Men face of the Summers family's past. Toad seems poised to become a force to be reckoned with...words I never thought would be typed or uttered. Can't wait to see what happens in the volume and so very sorry for the extremely late review. |
ajm88 chapter 28 . 8/10/2015 Great chapter dude. Liked how it brings a conclusion to things. But the wounds from the virus are still there. I can already say with certainty, Kelly won't run again. His son died whilst he was in office and the fact he came clean will help him but he has lost the fire that drives him. Kelly will be bogged down by congress and the press for the rest of his term. This virus thing will hang over him for some time. Henry Gyrich will loose his His wife will be destroyed completely, God only knows what she might do after this. I say he finishes his term with divinity and retires from public life. |
Bloodmoon234 chapter 1 . 7/30/2015 I love your story. I really do but it still kinda irritates me when it is too America-centric per say. It might make sense if you are an American but I am not and in your stories, America is like the ruler of planet earth. I definitely know it does not work that way since a lot of sovereign states would be pissed(all of them) that there is a world government. Take this from a guy who studies foreign relations the only true democracy in the world would be the international arena because nobody polices them aside from each other. If you want MSA to function like SHIELD, it should serve all nations like it has a world council just like in the movies and not just the American government. Speaking of other groups, why is the Avengers almost none existent in the stories although Warren mentioned them in Volume 1. By mere mentioning the Avengers, alien lifeforms would know that Thor Odinson, crown Prince of Asgard, declared earth a protected state by his name and since he is a crown Prince of asgard that will give any other interplanetary governments a pause. Gladiator will therefore know at least one legitimate reason why he cannot just invade or destroy earth. The mutant registration act should have at least made an important figure like Captain America complain about it at the least. A similar superhero registration act is the source of conflict in the Civil War Arc of the Marvel comics with Captain America against it. If you want a recommendation for a fic that involves deep international and domestic politics,I would recommend the fanfic Code Geass: Megiddo. The portrayal of politics is a deep concern for me because my own country has been screwed over by the American government so the notion that they kinda like rule the world irks me a little...maybe be more than a little but I don't have americans. I just don't like seeing them as the ruler of the freaking planet. Even superman renounced his us citizenship because he does not his heroics being used by the US government. |
Magnetrix chapter 28 . 7/24/2015 Finally got caught up! I was on vacation and didn't have access to the Internet. Anyway, what an ending to volume 5! Now we finally know what happened to Toad, and Stryfe's back! It's tragic what happened to Thunderbird, and the X-Men are always going to struggle with his death, especially those who worked with him. Do you have plans for another volume? Or is this it? Either way, I've enjoyed this series a lot, and it's one of the best I've read. Thanks for posting this. I can only imagine how difficult something like this is to write, and I certainly appreciate the effort. |
spirit117 chapter 28 . 7/21/2015 Truly a great ending to a great volume MM. The entire world felt the effect of the legacy virus which will be felt for decades to come in the X-Men Supreme universe. Perhaps the only good things that came out of all this was that Rogue can touch again and Logan and Raven had a real chance to talk. As for John’s Funeral I thought it was really well done they sent him off not only as an X-Men but more importantly like a true warrior. However now it looks like it's Toad’s time to shine I wonder what he has up his sleeve. Volume 5 has been awesome from beginning to end and I know you haven’t decided yet if you want to do more or not but as I’ve said in my last review I would love more volumes for this series. I would understand if you would need more times between issues to write them. You are the only author I know of that updates when they say their going to on time. Keep up the great work. |
The Prime Writer chapter 28 . 7/21/2015 Hey there man, name's The Prime Writer; I've read up on all of your stories and I will readily say that they are some totally awesome pieces of literature. I bet that if you pitched this idea to Marvel and show them everything that you've written thus far, then they'd definitely make these fanfics into a brand new line of comics or maybe even a TV series, but that's just my personal opinion on the matter. I'm sorry to hear that you aren't having as many people viewing your story as you had hoped, but rest assured that I remain among those readers, even if I don't think I've been leaving a whole lot of reviews for it...or any come to think of it. However, I at least will continue to give my full support this series and it is my sincere hope that you create a 6th volume of X-men Supreme so that we can see you finish off all of those loose ends that you've shown us readers. If you decide to not go ahead with a 5th volume, then I will accept it with dignity and not bug you at all about it; this was your series from the start, and if you've decided to be finished with it, then I feel that we should all respect your decisions and let you chart a new course in life. Until next time, I hope that you have an awesome life and that things go your way...okay, that last part's not very likely, but still, it wouldn't hurt to hope. Sincerely, The Prime Writer. |
ChaotixController chapter 28 . 7/20/2015 Wonderful, truly wonder. What buildup, what twists and turns, so many answers to long asked questions. The character dynamics and relationships. The old and new friends and foes, not to mention not one not two but at least three end of the world fiascos, each more terrifying than the last. You have outdone yourself once again. And thunderbird, as sad as it was it was all the more appropriate, considering in he comics he also died a hero which impacted the X-Men and his brother. Toad running his own crew, he is really stepping out. Still with all the questions made since the beginning finally answered, there are still some yet to even hint at, specifically Azazel and Limbo, which to my knowledge is connected somehow with Amanda, and other elements seem to know about it such as Shadow King. And with Gabriel taunting Scott about thier father, who we all know really is, that means the Starjammers, Lilandra, and the Shi'Ar will be back to play. Then there's still mastermind who still posses the M'Kran Crystal. And let's not forget Magneto, he may have been absent throughout the whole issue but there's not a doubt in my mind that he won't stay quite, not after this. Oh so many things to look forward next time, if there is a next time that is. |
cra0422 chapter 28 . 7/19/2015 One of the hardest parts of any conflict is to have to try and pick up the pieces in order to rebuild. Unfortunately, the Legacy Virus left a LOT of pieces for everyone to pick up. A disease that killed more people than World War II and the Black Death combined is not something you just get over. I think Jean said it best. Death on that scale is not something a person can wrap their mind around. That’s why we focus on the individuals who were closest to us. As tragic as the Virus was, at least there were some tiny bright spots that came out of it. Rogue doesn’t have her absorbing power anymore (which may or may not be a good thing). Piotr and Kitty seem to have decided to be more open with each other. One of the hardest parts of being in a relationship is exposing one’s self completely to another person and showing the bad as well as the good. Hopefully Mystique and Logan will be able to finally put their pasts behind them and move forward to something better. I want to say to James Proudstar, don’t try to be the best warrior you can possibly be but instead try to be best person you can possibly be. On what District X and Genosha have to do with the dead, I’m reminded of a history documentary about the Black Death and the proportion of the population that it killed. As well as how if something like that happened today, the difficulty there would be in dealing with the dead. How do you bury that many dead bodies or do you just cremate them? It seems that no matter what choice you make it wouldn’t seem fitting. I want to say first and foremost that I have the utmost respect for all those who serve in uniform. However, I also want to say that for some of them, the most difficult mission is taking the uniform off. Even for those who have families waiting for them, it’s still difficult to adjust to life outside the military. Freeman here has built his entire life around the military because he was facing either a long-term prison sentence or an early death so it’s even more difficult for him to get away from his duty. Grimshaw said it best that if he keeps fighting, he’ll stop being a soldier and just be a tool of war. It had to be hard enough for Robert Kelly, knowing so many of his countrymen were dying from the Legacy Virus, but when one of them was his own son, it just makes the pain even worse. Being the leader of a wounded nation is a monumental difficulty, but having to do so while also being a grieving parent is a burden no one can bare without suffering. I want so say this about Gyrich, he reminds me of what Maria Hill said about Beast in the comics, (which BTW has gotten REALLY messed up in my opinion), “he’s going to do whatever he wants whenever he wants”. Gyrich was right though when he said that when tragedy strikes, there’s always someone trying to make a grab for power. It’s only going to be a matter of time before the Mutant Liberation Front starts stirring up trouble, especially with a troublemaker like Toad in charge. Looking forward to the next volume. |
G0REL0RD chapter 28 . 7/19/2015 Just finished reading this issue and now I'm finally ready to get my hands on writing a review for this whole volume. I know you like when your readers and followers post reviews to each issue, but I'm not exactly a big fan of expressing my thoughts just on separate installments. I prefer to review works in their entirety, when they are complete and I can observe the whole scope of their progress and their ups and downs all the way from beginning to the end. Comments like "oh what an interesting spin you made in this issue" or "who could have thought it would be like this" or "wow how cool was this scene" aren't really my kind of thing. Because of that, I only post one review per volume. Please don't hate for this, because it's just the way I do things - it's not some lack of attention, loyalty or respect toward you as an author and your works. You know how much I worship your writing talent and the whole Xmen supreme series. You have no idea how fervently I wait for each new issue to be up for grabs and how much I much enjoy reading all them. I know that feedback means a lot to you and makes a big part of your motivation and inspiration to write, but you can always be adamant about my unconditional support of you and Xmen supreme regardless of how often I send my reviews. It's been almost 3 years since I started reading this saga from the very beginning, and over these years, it has become some kind of a constant in my life which I can hardly even imagine going further without. Anyway, I think I already started deviating from the subject so I'll go back to reviewing the story) First thing's first, congratulations on another masterpiece and another worthy and well-deserved addition to the Xmen Supreme series! 5 years and 5 volumes of 1 000 000 words combined is a long and tough road to go, which makes the task of continuing to hold the quality bar so high ever harder. Someway somehow you just keep on managing to do this, and this is worth a lot of respect and admiration. Also, you made good on your promise to retrieve that level of drama intrigue which reigned throughout 'Ashes of Hope', but, to my mind, became a bit lower in 'Politics of Fear'. Moreover, you didn't just go back to the way things were, but you also managed to bring that level to an absolutely new height. I think 'Dark Truths' is really the most thrilling and the most emotionally stirring Volume of 'Xmen Supreme' there's been so far. To make a global catastrophe like Legacy Virus the culmination of the story was a very bold and very challenging move, but you handled it splendidly, which resulted in probably one of the most unexpected and intriguing volume finales. Also, can't help but take note of the many burning questions that this volume answered. Some of those were first raised back in 'Mutant Revolution' and it was a really pleasurable feeling to have those mysteries were revealed in this volume. At the same time, you left quite a loophole for many new questions to be asked, which I really hope will be answered in the following issues. I certainly remember about your reservations concerning whether this Volume should be the final installment of Xmen Supreme or not, but my stance on this issue haven't changed much since 'Politics of Fear'. Like I said before, the decision is up to you, but, in my opinion, it's still way too early to put a full stop in this saga. Even after 5 long volumes, the world of X-Men continues to be a big world to explore and I can't possibly think of a better explorer for it than the Xmen Supreme universe. So far your take on many canon X-Men story-lines has seemed even more enjoyable, coherent and elaborate than what some original comics, films, cartoons and books had to offer on this matter, and I think there are still plenty more lores and story-lines left that Xmen Supreme has earned its right to cover in its series. Besides, judging by those many loose ends you left in Volume 5, I'm guessing you still have many fresh ideas left and many new fascinating stories to tell. Personally, don't see much reason for keeping them all only to yourself) In conclusion, I still wish you what I've been wishing you for the past three years, and that's to become an official novelist for Marvel Comics. I know that there are probably many more other avid X-Men fans on this site and beyond who are also writers and who might also have the same dreams and aspirations and their own unique vision of the X-Men universe, but I can't possibly imagine anyone else having the same passion, dedication, professionalism, talent, writing skills and productivity as you do. You've proven time and again that you're not just some amateur one-hit-wonder fan who simply decided to share some of his literary fantasies with others in the form of a fanfiction. You've managed to find your own unique place within the infinite X-Men world and even expand it far beyond that world's borders. For this, you deserve to have an acknowledged spotlight in this world and I really hope that one day you'll get what you deserve. Once again, congratulations on another masterpiece! Wish you very success in your future writing! |
craggey chapter 28 . 7/19/2015 such an epic, insane and off the chain volume, tv series worthy through and through, x men supreme never disappoints, keep writing mate |
Xavier St. Cloud chapter 28 . 7/18/2015 Great way to end the volume. Don't know if there will be a Volume 6, but if there is I will read it just like I read the other volumes. If not I will still have plenty of your other stories to read back over again. Thank you for taking the time to write these stories. |
Seeds of Destruction chapter 28 . 7/17/2015 You know how give us cliffhangers for the next volume. After all this it is a time of mourning and remembrance of loved ones loss. |
Guest chapter 28 . 7/17/2015 The last chapter was awesome. I can't wait to see how Toad and this team of his works out his plan. I really hope there is a Volume 6 because I liked this volume along with the others. |
Guest chapter 28 . 7/17/2015 Toad is smart enough with sci-fi high tech stuff |
Cyclopz chapter 28 . 7/17/2015 Your Park and Rec fic really derailed my attention there. The clash in tones just doesn't mix. I should have waited a little before finishing this story. Still a great chapter and finale for the season. Are Scott and Jean still 21-22 years old ? Because they really act like an old married couple. I know they had to grow up fast, but something in their conversations just doesn't sit right with me. |
