Interesting. Loved the dialogue, very clever. It makes me wish we'd revisit the Red John matter in the "present" - hint! I feel like the show could wrap it up a little better, have Jane mention or talk about it one last time... With Lisbon. It's hard to believe everything went away when he died and I bet Jane stills has a few demons that visit him, not as often but still. After all, he is *scared*. I'm rambling, I'm sorry. I'm just looking forward to more fictions in the present from you, that's all.

Wonderful writing, as always. Loved Lisbon thinking about Jane's hand on her shoulder and her giving him a talking to about safety protocols. And the line where Jane promises not to add to her paperwork by inconveniently getting in the way of her bullet was pure gold. Enjoyed him flirting with her with the 'I love when you quote the CBI handbook at me' line. Also, good job making McAllister seem super creepy in hindsight in the last scene. ;) Thanks for writing!

I could imagine McAllister/RJ so well, he sounds like a nice guy who's a little odd but actually he's the creepiest man... You captured his character and the whole situation perfectly!

Great story!

It's fun to read this first encounter between Jane and the man we now know as Red John. This was really well written and poignant. The line that got me most was McAllister saying it had been unforgettable to meet Jane. Hit me right in the guts thinking how much Jane had to endure to get himself into the same room with him again. Brilliant tag!

This is great! And more than a little creepy with this kind of hindsight, lol. Very clever how you wrote McAllister's sinister lines so in character x 2. And I love Lisbon wondering about Jane's lost potential - we've all been there wondering too.
I don't read fanfic often but this is what I look for when I do. Love that you and others are doing the earlier season tags so we can see the relationship unfold from our new vantage point!

Some interesting foreshadowing about McAllister's avocation eventually to be revealed. Hmm. Do like Lisbon's efforts to get Jane to perceive the world as she saw and lived it, as well as to understand the world he hid with such care and determination. Thanks.
