A Strawberry chapter 1 . 7/5/2019 Lovely oneshot! Beautifully canon, and such a lovely in character but deeper exploration of Ariel’s feelings and of Eric! He’s a mysterious one. :-P Loved this because you reminded me of what I originally loved about the Little Mermaid. And the descriptors! You rocked sensory descriptors so much that I could see this in my head. |
ultra94 chapter 1 . 8/11/2016 Wonderfully written |
The BritCrit chapter 1 . 10/25/2015 Guest chapter 1 . secs ago This is a very popular fanfic, judging by the large number of people who have favourited it, and it's not hard to see an event that lasts 80 seconds in the film (a good fraction of which is Flounder asking Sebastien and Scuttle for news) into a story nearly 4,000 words long must seem like a difficult task, but the writer makes it look easy. The main strength of this fanfic is the focus on Ariel's thoughts and feelings about the human world. It can be very confusing and even dangerous, but the adventure and excitement of being there explain why Ariel wants to be "part of that world" (sorry, couldn't resist!). Eric is also depicted well, with his dialogue and the descriptions of him emphasising why Ariel loves him more with every moment. If you believe that getting a kiss from Eric was initially no more than a means for Ariel to become human, this fanfic shows how her thoughts change - it's no longer solely about being human, but spending the rest of your days with a kindred spirit. I also enjoyed the story itself, depicting Ariel's experiences dancing and spending time on the the major scenes emphasise how much Ariel loves the sights, sensations and adventures of the human world, whilst also showing that her desire to enjoy human life to its full could be a problem if not handled more responsibly - she still has a lot to learn, and can't wait to do so. Overall, this is a very good fanfic, and certainly succeeds in its primary purposes of fleshing out those key moments that could only be shown briefly in the film, and emphasising the thoughts and feelings of Ariel and Eric, which can only be properly depicted through writing. |

AngelfromBeyondBelow chapter 1 . 5/3/2015 I love this story, and I so hope this is what happened off screen. |
Lady Krystalyn chapter 1 . 9/28/2014 Love this! Wonderful job. |
Rose-tinted specs chapter 1 . 8/17/2014 Beautiful story, and you described both Ariel and Eric's emotions really well! |
MioMin chapter 1 . 7/1/2014 Wow! I love Ariel. You wrote her very believable. |
TarzanGirl20 chapter 1 . 6/30/2014 This 1 is great too your such a great writer! |
hermionelover02921 chapter 1 . 6/28/2014 Beautiful! :D |
Butterbeer8 chapter 1 . 6/23/2014 Your writing is truly perfect! I drink in every single detail as I envision the story happening as though it were a deleted scene from the movie. Your writing style is like poetry, very beautiful! |
LeanOnMe928 chapter 1 . 6/21/2014 Nice. This one in particular really hit ome for me because of the subject matter. I recently had a broken ankle and am having to wear crutches so I can identify with Ariel on quite a personal level right now. This was a blast to read. |
EnchantedKisses chapter 1 . 6/20/2014 Loved it! But I have to ask: do you have a thing for redheaded heroines? xD Reason I ask is because I was browsing through all your older fics lately and I noticed the trend by chance. (Rose from Titanic, Anastasia, Felicity, & Nessie and Esme (kinda sorta)). I think it's cute! BUT If you post a fic for Orphan Annie then I'll really start to be suspicious! LOL |
Guest chapter 1 . 6/19/2014 Please. Do. Their. Wedding. Night. |
Ivytruce2 chapter 1 . 6/19/2014 Holy cow! I have the biggest girl crush on Ariel since I was a little kid (and who could resist Prince Eric and those sea blue eyes of his?) Gosh what a dreamboat. You wrote the sweetest descriptions of senses and the differences between being on land and underwater. It was so cool. A lot of the things you mention here are things we never even touched on in the cartoon. Because hey, its just a kid's movie and they don't address things like that in kid's movies. ;-) It would be awesome to see more missing moments from Little Mermaid. Ivy |
