Medically retired? With nanites that are supposed to extend her life to 700 years but cant heal some muscular trauma in her heart? Your writing swings back and forth from being really interesting and good to wildly inconsistent and nonsensical. I'm not trying to be too harsh here, but there are alot of logical inconsistencies in the story, and while you may address them later, it still just feels like we're running in circles. If Shepard's life span is still indeed extended, and the implants and nanites are that advanced, this shouldnt be an issue. If the drug significantly damaged the nanites then miranda should easily be able to tell and Shepards life span would be reduced. Its your story and you can do as you wish, I just think you start to lose people's attention and momentum when you have logical fallacies in the story. I think this is evidenced by your previous story getting over 100 reviews and a good amount of interest, versus this one.

Should of killed Jona Sederis... And why does Aria think she can control the homicidal maniac? However, it's just Eclipse. We've killed plenty of them before, so I guess Shepard and the Normandy step in one more time and clean house... and that may include the Aria bitch. Hate to say that... love Aria's character, but not if she's intent on controlling the galaxy. I might have supported it if her goal was to take down the Matriarchy...

I like the politics's and I agree with Garrus that yes, the best thing ever would be that both Liara and Sheppy go do the Council thing, but shit man don't they deserve a break? (HINT "cough")

Stupid people unfortunately are like cockroaches and they will come running out of the wood work the moment the coast is clear. The politic's are realistic and I enjoy it because it's realistic, not because it's fair :P.

Yay! Tali lives... Boo! Shepard's dying! Hopefully Oriana comes up with a bit better news when she does the actual exam... And, I just can't see Liara giving up on Shepard. Ever. She retrieved a burned to nothing corpse and let Cerberus reanimate and put her back together. If nothing else, they'd take tissue samples to work with and put her in stasis until a cure is found. Liara's going to live a long time... they can wait. Just a thought.

The good: the part with the krogan was well done and a treat to read. The uncertainty around Tali's fate and the image of her floating alone in that escape pod is pretty epic. Good job on that.

The almost good: the backstory with Aethyta, Aria and the others. I could see a lot of great ideas there, but unfortunately here and there they were presented a little confusingly. It was a good part, but I felt it could have been better.

The not so good: the entire drama surrounding Shepard's health. Mostly due to Miranda and Chakwas acting like... well, I don't know what, but certainly not doctors. The entire conversation with Liara could be summed up like:

Doctor: I'm terribly sorry, but you're dying.
Patient: What?! Why what's wrong with me?
Doctor: Um, I don't really know... but try not to worry!

See what I mean? Doctors just don't do things like that, it would be ridiculous. In story terms, it just creates angst with poor justification for it. Aside from that, solid chapter.

I love the back story between Aria, Tevos, Benezia and Aethyta it's really interesting.

To keep such information from the shadow broker especially regarding the sb wife? Bad idea me thinks. Anyhow another enjoyable chapter. Cheers.

Miranda and Chakwas need to come clean with Liara... about EVERYTHING. The triple-purpose serum, their desire for medical retirement, and Oriana's objection to that course of action... Keeping secrets is never a good thing... And Ori needs to buck up and be smart about this...
And the conversation with Aunty Raan? not going to be good! Ooooohhhhhhh, so much up in the air!
