That being said, I have two suggestions.

If you have a college near you take it to the computer tech department and see if one of the teachers/students/staff would like to take a crack at it, just be really sad and pathetic and hopefully one of them will take pity on you and do it for free.

If your local library has a decent computer lab see if the tech there can do anything

take your time

Off topic - I think there's software to recover files from a formatted disk. You can search on Google for one. As long as your flash drive isn't low-level formatted (which I doubt they would do) and you hadn't written to it, it's highly possible to recover some files from it. Good luck!

I will wish you luck with the story. At this point Harry's dream seems like a nightmare. And for a reazon unknown to me he has dreams about someone like Draco? Really where that thinking goes? So instead of friends he dream about enemies. So let move to something better.

Nice job making him a Puff. At first I was worried that he would not change anything. It bothered me that he was thinking of getting together with Ginny already when this is clearly AU. Hated that pairing by the way. It's a long ways off so here's to hoping it doesn't happen and he avoids the yearly adventures that he can't like taking the diary before it gets to Hogwarts. It was lucky he survived the first time and it would be criminally stupid to let that play out and expose his parseltongue when he knows how he would be treated.

'I bitterly regret Lilly's death' scene. I feel with Harry knowing about snape from his dreams,
He would be less bitter about it and be slightly closer to Snape.
