I loved how you ended this. First you'd made the orchard sound so appealing to start with, with Loki wistfully remembering days spent peacefully reading up a tree, surrounded by gold and green and the scent of apples and I am so happy that you allowed him to come home again and be able to enjoy that again after everything that he's been through. And the fact that Idunn obviously is actually fond of Loki and has been keeping a carefully contained part of each vine that he's inflicted on her orchard in her own private garden ever since he started doing it as a boy is so damn sweet! And that Loki presumably found out that she did it and began putting effort into making them more and more beautiful, and creative and clever. (This is like the gardening version of sticking a kid's art on the fridge!) And I love that she knows he's there, and doesn't mind, and they only share that brief acknowledgment, each continuing to do their own thing in a friendly, comfortable silence.

And Thor and Jane and the baby all being alive and back together and Loki making sure that they're going to stay that way -AAAHHHHHHH! i was so sad for most of this fic because YOU KILLED JANE AND HER BABY OMG HOW COULD YOU but that made it all the more joyful when she was one of the stolen souls whom Loki was able to return to life. Except then Thor had given up and had such a narrow squeak; I loved Loki's mad dash to the hospital and making sure that Thor was being taken care of. and seeking out Jane and making sure that she was all right, too. And now they all get to be a family and I'm so happy. I can just imagine Uncle Loki absolutely doting on his niece and encouraging her in all sorts of mischief when she gets older.

I forgot about this one, until I was going through my old bookmarks and remembered that I had loved it.

And guess what? I still love it! You write an amazingly gentle, powerful Thor, filled with equal parts rage and love, and I just adore it. This is the best of Thor, and one the best ways I have seen him written. His heartbreak breaks my heart, and his joy leaves me warm and fuzzy inside.

Loki is masterfully done. Truly, truly. Sharp, pointed, cunning and quick, you capture him well. I love stories where he cares for Thor beneath all the prickliness, and you’ve nailed it! If only Marvel would call on you for his characterization. So well done. :)

Jane gets written a lot of different ways in fanfiction, but I like this way the best - strong, determined, and deeply in love. She’s perfect for Thor, and there are too few stories out there where that is the case. Thank you for writing her this way.

I will say, now that I've had time to just bask in the wonderful aftermath of this story, that the first few chapters could probably be edited for things like conversations that seem to have been almost identically repeated or Thor revealing something about his relationship with Jane in, I think, the first chapter which Loki seems to have then forgotten in the second...I don't remember precisely what it was now; I could go back and check if you couldn't find it yourself. But I'm glad I kept reading. Thanks again.

I'm proud of Thor. He doesn't rise to Loki's baiting and actually waits for his answer. I'm sure one of Loki's legitimate gripes is that he doesn't feel people, and especially Thor, listen to what he says. Now he sees that Thor will not necessarily assume the worst from Loki. I predict this will be a good "relationship repair" story. Nice start.

Hi Mara, Just had to let you know that this story really moved me almost to tears. That tightening of the throat and the moisture gathering in the eyes. You managed to translate grief to the page with great effect. It brought back memories and emotions I'd try to bury much as Thor did in your story. Loki's guilt, worry, eventual care building to beautifully loving acts towards the end were truly heart warming. The vines were a nice humorous touch. Thank you so very much for this story.

That was beautiful. You did a truly wonderful job of capturing both Loki and Thor, and equally the complicated yet deep bond between them which still exists even after everything.

I adored the kind moments between them during their journey and despite the intense emotion they never felt out of character or too much. I was delighted that Loki finally seems to realise how much he really does mean to Thor, and that he allowed Thor to see the true intentions behind his actions at the end.

I was only sorry to finish, I would have loved to see one more scene between the brothers; you simply write them so very well.
