I know I have read and reviewed on this story before. However I felt it deserved another go and a better, more in-depth review. Over all this story is well written with an interesting plotline. It has by far one of the best explanations for Kagome's love of Inuyasha I have ever come across. It also does an amazing job of explaining said reason and establishing the plot. In all honesty I wish the rest of the story would have had the same flow as the first chapter and avoided the time gaps and flashbacks. Unfortunately that style became a bit confusing at parts but was easily straightened out. I can understand why you used this style as it sped the timeline along and allowed the story to encompass more events while still remaining short-ish.

I'm a little sad that Sango and Miroku stood by Inuyasha after everything. I like Kagome sealing away his demon blood. That seems like a proper punishment.

I agree one hundred percent that the sword wouldn't transform for Inuyasha after he hit Kagome. He couldn't claim to be her protector anymore. So, Miroku and Sango were mildly upset that Inuyasha hit Kagome, but never really said anything to him and continued to follow him. Sad. I love the creativity of Kagome using her power to make fangs so she could give Sesshoumaru a courting mark!

I'm so disappointed in Miroku and Sango. For them to just stand there after Inuyasha hit her is unforgivable. It seems like they were also taking advantage of her and treating her like she owed them for protecting her. I'm so glad Kagome asked her grandfather for help. I kknow his character was played for laughs in the series, but the fact is that he is a priest and a shrinekeeper and he must have a lot of knowledge that would be helpful to Kagome.

Very interesting idea that Kagome needs to purge or cleanse her soul to be rid of her unreasonable feelings for Inuyasha.

I really enjoyed this story (have read it twice now). It's an intriguing concept that Kagome's "love" for Inuyasha is attributable to the taint on her soul from Kikyo's wish. To be honest, I never thought that Inu treated Kagome well and your story realistically portrays the likely result of his uncurbed selfishness, possessiveness and anger. It was very well done how you showed her thoughts and analysis of her own and others' behavior, and how she realized she needed to overcome her unhealthy urges.

Shit... That's all I can say... Honestly I am in such awe after reading this story that I was left breathless for a few moments and just stared up at my wall. I know that this is the first time I've reviewed, and I'm still wondering why and how on earth I had not yet read and come upon this Fanfic but... I am sure I will be rereading this again and again and again, so I would need the extra 4 reviews I still have. But fuck... This was amazing...

Reading this for a second time, but looking at it as if this was the first I've seen it, it was a good story. And with your last A/N I think you did a good job with this as your first short at the time you wrote this. There are mistakes, a big one being where you use smelt. "Smelt" has to do with metal working and forging items - ex. The blacksmith was a large man, after all the way he swung his hammer to smelt iron together, he had to be powerful. For scent or smells of any kind it would be "smelled" - ex. The trash smelled as if it had been sitting in the baking sun for days on end, sickly sweet and harsh to the nose.
