Skilled writing. I was reading this in the dark, and just had to curl my feet away from the edge of my bed and flip the light on.

Well, this is interesting. Bilbo's friendship was so strong that he remained by Thorin's side to the very end as his most loyalist friend. Thorin wouldn't leave with out Bilbo either; was Bilbo stuck in the land where he died?

This was a fascinating idea. I had never considered a potential alternative verse to J.R.R. Tolkien's ending; at least not one where Bilbo died. The language and imagery that you created was lovely. The plot felt reminiscent of Shakespeare, but that may just be an odd observation. Your story certainly succeeds raise many questions best left to the musing of reader.

This is really good, well-written and evocative. But so sad! I can't believe that Bilbo really would have wanted Thorin to waste away like this.

Keep up the good work, I'm looking forward to your next work. (But a little less heartbreaking would be nice! ;-) )
