A story I wrote a long while ago exploring Sean Lord Derry's mysterious past. It's a bit of an embarrassing piece of fantasy romance, complete with bad dialect (I was young!) but I thought I'd put the first few chapters out there; I'll post the rest if there's any interest.

This story is mostly set during the Deryni persecutions under the Custodes Fidei in the year 918. Yet even in those dark times, there were people who risked their lives in order to save as many Deryni as they could. Some were not even Deryni themselves, but were motivated by their love for all mankind, despite their differences. This is a tale of some of those unsung heroes.

I tried to keep the violence in this story muted to strong T rather than crossing into M-hopefully I succeeded.

Jashana Arilan, niece to Bishop Denis Arilan, is presented with an unexpected offer from Michael, the High Lord of Llyr. Slightly AU take on the Deryni universe. (The island kingdom of Llyr was introduced in my earlier story Anamchara.)

While shopping for a Twelfth Night present, the Duke of Corwyn assists an enchanting young lady and receives a special "gift" in return.

An aged Duke of Corwyn is seriously ill with fever and is visited by the people most important in his life.

Love manifests itself in varying forms. When a young mother finds her life unexpectedly threatened by childbirth complications, those who love her most are forced to discover some uniquely Deryni solutions to the emergency at hand. Probably closer to K , but since the story depicts a childbirth scene gone awry, I'll rate it T for the squeamish. 7 years after Maidens of Mayhem.

Bishop Denis Arilan pays a visit to his favorite birthday girl, his grand-niece Stefania de Arilan, daughter of Seisyll and Sophie Arilan.

In the aftermath of The Killing Season, as the Kingdom of Gwynedd begins to recover from the effects of the fever-flux epidemic and Count Teymuraz' assassination attempt on King Kelson, Duke Dhugal has to learn how to deal with the unforeseen consequences of a decision made in haste.
